Week Update

I can't believe that I haven't posted all week. Things are getting cold in Southern Ohio and I think that I am settling into hibernation mode and I need to snap out of that.

In this past week, I have knitted a little. I am a about 2/3 of the way through the leg.

I've been cross stitching. I started the snowman last weekend and was here on Sunday morning.

And this is where it is now.

I also got the fabric for the 2 samplers from The Frosted Pumpkin.

I also finished the binding on Easy Street. Maisy helped.

Finally, I upgraded to an iPhone. I am missing the Droid. The iPhone and I are still bonding. Maybe it will happen. There is no going back now.

And not to leave the other pups out, here are Maxie and Lula. :)

And now, I need to go and finish the quilt on the frame and get the next one ready to go.

WIP Wednesday - 10/17

I wasn't going to do a post this week because I didn't really get a lot from my list done from last week, but then I thought - to heck with it! I am going to show what progress I did get done and talk a little about retreat!

My biggest snafu of the week has been fixed. For anyone who has a touch screen device without a protective case... Do yourself a favor and run out and get a case NOW!

I started pulling fabrics for the next Scrap Squad. I am in the home stretch with this Squad for the year. It has been quite a journey, but I am ready to work on my own projects at my own speed now. :)

And I got the blue star baby quilt quilted and the binding attached to it. And the binding attached to the ice skating quilt for a customer. I need to hand stitch them both down.

And I am all packed up and ready to head to retreat in the morning. I am probably taking too many projects, as per usual, but I am ready to spend all weekend eating some yummy cinnamon rolls and sewing my brains out! lol

Last week...  (really 2 weeks ago...)

Make next BOM block
Finish the blue baby quilt

Next week...

Make next 2 sets of BOM blocks
Finish the blue baby quilt
Make goodies for the Blog Hop Giveaway
Make great progress on the next Scrap Squad

New Gadget

Last week, I upgraded my Blackberry Pearl to a Blackberry Curve in Smokey Violet! Well, I placed the order last week, but I didn't receive the phone until Wednesday.

100_2619

I spent a couple of hours setting up the phone like my old phone and the testing out the apps. I LOVE IT!!! It's so much better than the Pearl! And the color is great!! :)

It has taken a bit of getting used to navigating the way the apps are set up, but after a couple of days, I think I have the hang of it. And my eyes are a little happier because the screen is bigger, too.

Maisy says...

100_2627 "Ehhhh... It would be better if it smelled like beef bones...."

Well, you can't please everyone! lol

Aw, crap!

Last night, I was trying to get my frame and machine back in working order. For some reason, the machine had come off the tracks since the last time I used it about 2 months ago. Sunday night, I got everything back in order and cleaned and oiled (apparently, some did not like the other word used in the previous post - I'm not naming names here.... *giggle*) the machine and left it to settle for a day. Monday, I tried to start sewing and the tension was way off and the bobbin thread kept breaking. I realized that the connector for the cruise control had come out of the wheel that it sits in. I have no idea how this could have happened because this connector was not easy to insert into the wheel in the first place. After struggling for a few minutes, the connector was in and it was back to the front of the machine to sew. I flipped the switch. Nothing happened.

Apparently in the struggles to get the connector back into the wheel and all of the times that the machine was off track, this happened.

The little black piece that is off to the right side is supposed to be attached to the circuit board. This is where the power cord is supposed to plug into hence the nothing happening.

I was so upset about this, I nearly made myself sick. Just ask Jen because she called me to try and calm me down and walk me through a fix. Nothing would work.

Now, I can't use the machine and frame until I get this fixed and because of the holiday this week (I hope) I haven't been able to get a response from the company about fixing the problem or replacing the bad part. And on top of this not knowing, I needed to have a quilt quilted by tomorrow so that I could hand stitch the binding down this weekend because the quilt is a going away present for my boss whose last day is 12/5. Luckily, I was able to sweet talk my very dear friend Patrice into quilting it for me and I was able to drop the quilt off with her tonight.

On the bright side, since I can't quilt anything, I don't have to worry about how to spend my time this weekend - piecing or quilting.... At least that problem has been solved! :)

Oh, and I got a new toy tonight. A BlackBerry Pearl 8130 cell phone. It's my Christmas present to myself. Well, this and maybe the part to the quilt frame set up. But back to the phone.... It's PINK!!!

Very cute and oh so stylish! Now, I am just spending time getting acquainted with it and programming my numbers in.
