Vacation Update

Time for another update. In spite of my machine falling apart, I was able to finish the I Spy and a couple of other things on Monday night. I was up until 12:30 sewing and cutting. I finished another easy table runner - this was was made with a 1.5 yard cut of fabric. I wanted to get this top done so that I could run to JoAnn's and get a backing and binding to put it together for my sister for Thanksgiving.

The last thing I did on Monday was cut my pieces for my November 2 Buck a Block BOM. The first thing I did on Tuesday morning was piece this block. I think it turned out well!

After that, I decided to suck it up and do the elastic and hems on the 2 pairs of pants that I had ready for the kids. I figured that if I got them done I could take them to the kids on Thanksgiving and be their favorite aunt. Not that I have a lot of competition. :) I also had already finished the matching pillowcases on the October retreat.

Once I got all of this done, I figured that I could really get cracking on the pants that I had already cut out and that if I got the pants and then pillowcases finished, it would clear up some space in the area of my work stack. I got 2 more pairs of pants cut for Claire and added them to the stack of the 1 pair for her and the 3 pairs for Spencer. I also prepared the pillowcases for the matching set.

Then, I decided (well, my back decided) that I needed a little break for food and JoAnn's so I showered up and ran to JoAnn's and got supplies - backing and binding for the table runner, elastic for the pants, and some better pins. And I was able to use one of my Merry Moolah coupons. I came back home, ate dinner, and headed back to the machine to work on the pants. Last night, I was able to get the legs and crotches and the leg hems sewn on all of Spencer's pants and I started sewing the legs and crotches of Claire's pants. So far this morning, I am finishing the leg hems on Claire's pants and then will start on the elastic casings. Once this is done, I should be able to whip the pillowcases together pretty quickly.

Oh, and while I was making myself lunch yesterday, I was able to baste a quilt sandwich of cheap fabric to practice my FMQ. Hopefully, I will get to that tomorrow morning before the feestivities begin at Nikki's. :)

Ok, now you're just kicking my ass on the sewing front. I've got one of my mom's quilts on the frame and I'm about to chuck her thread right out the window.

Wow, I have never seen so many sewing marathoners! One of these days, I'll get my act together and have something to show. (SIGH) My job and the after effects are taking a serious toll on my sewing!
