Wednesday's musings

Here it is almost 9 PM on Wednesday and I have been a bum on the bed since about 4:30 when I got home from work. I had a retinal migraine this morning and it turned into a killer headache with tremendous sinus pressure. I got nauseous a few times at work and lunch and drugs didn't seem to help so I gave up and left. Woe is me.

OK, enough of my pity party.

Well, maybe not. I have a ton of blog posts to read and I haven't been making time for them since just before retreat. Since coming back from Wisconsin - did y'all know that I went up to see Jen in October? No? Well, I thought that I would just inform those who live under rocks and remind everyone else that I spent a long weekend at Jen's. I still get great pleasure in the fact that I can remind everyone! hee hee hee - Anyway, since coming back from Wisconsin, I have been paring back on my blogs and skimming others to see if they are of real interest to me. While I enjoy seeing bits and pieces of everyone else's lives and quilts, it really does take a lot of time away from my sewing. I plan on cutting back a little bit more by the time I am done.

Speaking of cutting back, I still have a ton and a half of fabric, kits, scraps, etc that I have to get a handle on. Oh, and a few tops that need to spend some quality time in the basement with Lenny and Squiggy, the frame and machine. I am formulating a plan right now on how to get a handle on everything to tackle the stash and fabric in the spare bedroom. I am going to try to put my plan into action this weekend so that I can have a few weeks to test it out by the end of the year and make a few tweaks if necessary. If all goes well, I will be able to post about my success and have an idea of how things will go in 2009. In my mind, this all seems like a workable system, but with my real job and working at the quilt shop, it may not work at all. This is why there will have to be some testing. :)

This weekend, I have a class on Friday night with some buddies and we are meeting for dinner beforehand. I am anxious to get a few of the blocks together for the class because I am trying something different than the class sample and it is a bit out of the box for me. I think that it will turn out very sharp looking, but that could just be all in my head. We shall see.

Saturday, I have an all day class at the shop with a few buddies and we are going to breakfast beforehand. I can't wait for that! And the class promises to be a blast, too! I am very excited to see how this quilt turns out, too!

Stay tuned for updates. I better get some more rest and drugs. Oh, and my very drastic drugs are allergy meds and ibuprofen so don't worry about me getting too drugged up to sew a straight line. I won't be sewing anything tonight anyway! :)

Hope you are feeling better! I hate when I feel so crappy that I can't get anything done. Sounds like you have a lot of fun classes coming up.

I've been paring back the blog list, too - in prep for the new job and the shift to more personal computing in the evening - like you I don't want to diminish sewing time -and I also have the Munchkin to deal with!!

Once you figure out how to get organized - do share!!! I could use some pointers!!

I do hope you're feeling better. it sucks to want to do something but then are hindered by a massive headache!

that aside, I saw this in my email today and I thought of you... since you were using this fabric for your OBW. all the wizard of oz fabric is on sale... some at $1.99/half yard. just passing along the savings!
