Happy New Year, everyone! I hope that you spent New Year's Day doing something fun!
I have been under the weather for the past almost 3 weeks. First it was a cold, then the fall on the ice, and then the cold came back with a vengeance. I am feeling so much better now, but it has meant a lot of sleeping and resting and, unfortunately, not much sewing and not many points earned for the Waun-A-Quilt 2009 Challenge. Jen is kicking my butt right now.
On New Year's Eve, I had every intention of coming home from work and sewing for the evening. I was able to do a little cleaning and then started coughing too much so I went to bed at 10:30. I'm so lame! :)
Steve did finish painting the closet and it looks great. I can't wait until February to load all of my things back in it!
On New Year's Day, I was able to sleep in and it was wonderful! While I was eating breakfast, I worked on sewing down the rest of the binding on my log cabin quilt. It was the very first quilt top that I ever made. I quilted it in August and ha the binding attached, but I never made the time to sew the binding down. I am very happy that it's done! It just needs to be washed and a label put on.
I also got the binding attached to this table topper. No close ups yet, but it looks really cool! I already have almost half of the binding stitched down. And since it is a Halloween topper, I get 4 times the points!
And I spent some time on New Year' Day sewing on the log cabin blocks. I squared some blocks up and attached more blocks together.
So here is my points breakdown so far:
- 6 - for 45 minutes spent cleaning on 12/31
- 172 - for 43" of binding stitched down on the log cabin quilt
- 8 - made a rice bag for some moist heat for my neck and chest and ears to try and help with the cold symptoms
- 20 - machine stitched 5 strips to the table topper and then times 4 since it is a Halloween quilt
- 16 - squared up 16 blocks for the purple log cabin
- 14 - joined 14 more blocks together for the log cabin
- 288 - stitched approximately 18" on the Halloween topper and then times for sine it is a Halloween quilt
- 2 - straightened my sewing area a little more
This gives me a total of 526 points so far. Nothing near Jen's outrageous number for her paper piecing, but not a bad start considering I'm diseased right now. :)
