Indy fabric purchases and Slide show

So, in case you haven’t noticed, I did indeed hit the same quilt shop 3 nights in a row! I love reproduction fabrics and they had quite a bit of it. And their quilt samples were amazing!

Thursday night, I only bought for friends! I had been looking for the Lily Pad line from In the Beginnings fabric for Regina when I was at Fabric Shack a few weeks ago. Well, this shop had the border print that Fabric Shack didn’t have. And I found another print that would work just as well and I picked it up once I got Regina’s approval. These are the 2 fabrics on the right in the first picture below.

On Friday during the Star Struck class, it became apparent that I was not going to have a scrappy enough block with the fabrics that I had taken with me. And I knew that I didn’t have any additional background fabrics that I could add that wouldn’t stick out like a sore thumb. I do have a lot of the dark fabrics and I wanted to use all of most of it up in this quilt. This meant that I would need to get some additional backgrounds to match. On Friday after class, I ended up finding the 2 backgrounds on the left in this picture. I think that they will work well with the fabrics that I already have.

Friday’s shopping trip was the first time that Becca, Linda and Cathy were able to see the shop and they all walked around with eyes wide! Linda and I seem to have very similar tastes in fabric and patterns. She stumbled upon this sample and was stunned.

When she showed me, I asked if she just HAD to have me make one with her. She said that of course I would need to make one, too. The pattern is Small Things by Country Threads. We found the shop’s kit with all the fabric for the top and the binding so we each got one.

There was another pattern that I just loved and the more that I looked at the shop’s sample, I just had to have the pattern. It is Ancient Stars by Quakertown Quilts, Inc. Once we left the shop, I kept thinking about the Ancient Stars pattern and the 2 kits of fabric that the shop had put together for use with the pattern. Becca finally said that I should get the fabric packs after seeing the pattern. So, we headed back to the shop on Saturday after our class so that I could get the 2 kits.

I also picked up these things while I was there. The Thimbleberries table runner is so cute and, since it is Thimbleberries, it is bound to be easy! And I saw the fabric that I plan on using for my Jitterbug outer border. I was afraid that I would be cutting it very close with the fabric that I have already so I picked up just enough for one more strip just in case.

And finally, here is the slide show of all of the pictures from the weekend. I had such a good time and I am so happy that I signed up for the classes!

I have never bought a kit from a shop, I wonder if I would take the time to make the project of just enjoy that it was 'all' there for when I got the urge.
Either way I am on a self-imposed NO BUY so I just have to live through the pictures of others.
Glad you had fun. cw
