Forced hiatus?

This might just end up being the case. I'm highly ticked right now.

This morning, as I was reading blogs my computer went berserk! My computer has never liked commenting on blogs that do not have a separate window or pop up for the comments. This set up has plagued my laptop with constant new window pop ups that caused it to go out of control. I had stopped commenting on blog like that or requesting that the blog owners convert to the pop ups or new window. I am kicking myself for commenting on the blog that I did because after my computer was possessed by aliens, all I can get it to do is show the blue screen of death.

I have taken the laptop to the Geek Squad and they said that the error on the blue screen pointed to a hard drive issue. This thrills me no end. The question of cost to fix the error ended with a barrage of charges for everything under the sun. And no guarantees.

I left the laptop for them to run a 'free' diagnostic scan on it. As they were filling out paperwork for me to leave the laptop, the geek said that the scan was already showing several hard drive errors.

As I wait patiently for the scan to be finished and to hear all about the plethora of errors that is sure to come, I came to the library to get a small taste of wireless and to contemplate the possibly next steps that I will have to take.

I'm not pleased. Not at all.

Oh noooooo! Computer problems are the worst. I'm hoping that your computer can be brought back to normal functionality with minimal cost and fuss. Fingers crossed for you!

an surely understand your feelings about this right now!
Although I haven't had your experience as such, I will say I like the little pop up commenting boxes much better than the other ones... I wish all bloggers would change to this method...
Good luck with the outcome of your comp problem Jill!

Best buy has a very nice computer by the brand of ASUS. I bought one a couple of months ago. It has windows 7 on it, and it is really a neat computer. I asked the tech about it, and he said ASUS has made parts for all brands of computers for many many years, and finally decided to jump in on the computer making wagon. We paid about $550 for it, and love it. Compared to other brands with the same specs, this one was a bargain. This might be more feasable for you than to repair the one you have. Just a thought.

Ugh-I'm so sorry! I hate to say this but the last time I took a computer to best buy for a 'free' diagnostic test they told me it had several hundred viruses on it and wanted $100+ to fix it. I said no thanks, took it home, and did several virus scans on it from several sites and programs-no virus. Lots of tracking cookies though. When I called to ask about it they said that was the same as viruses. Really? So I reformatted it on my own and saved the $$. Good luck-I hope your situation is better than mine was!

Fingers crossed that they get it fixed, within a reasonable price, and that you don't lose your data.

Good luck with that--it is so sad when the sewing budget becomes the computer budget.
