On Tuesday night, I went to the River City Quilter's Guild meeting. Karen Montgomery was in from Pittsburgh for a presentation on how fabric comes to be. Karen is the owner of The Quilt Company and designs their patterns. I think that she is most famous for her Easy Striped Table Runner, but she also has some very easy patterns like the Reversible Table Runner.
It was very informative and Karen is a very interesting speaker! She answered all the questions that we had and brought lots of quilts to show off. We even got to see several very new quilts that are featured in current or soon to be released magazines!
Karen is the one in black.
Sorry that this last one was a little dark. Both of these quilts are from the same line of fabric if you can believe that!
She designed a line of golf fabric because of the PGA tournament that is by her quilt shop.
This one is called Desert 9 Patch and the pattern is available on Timeless Treasure's website.
This one was made using the same fabrics. Amazing!! It's called Serendipity.
This one is called Outside the Box and is in an American Patchwork and Quilting magazine.
She also showed us the Jungle Rain quilt that I have seen all over the place, but I didn't get a picture of that one. The ladies folding were too quick for me! :)
It was also very interesting to learn about the process of designing fabric and all the reasons that things are done certain ways.
If you ever have a chance to hear one of Karen's lectures, don't pass it up!! She is awesome!
