Happy Valentine's Day...

I have had this blog for a while and I think that it's about time that I start to share some of my more memorable life experiences. Although, this may be more of a forgettable one.

There is a short side story though before I get into the main story. When I was in college, there was one place where my buddies and I would hang out between classes and study or play cards. The lounge was a huge room with a high ceiling and fireplaces that were never lit. There were big windows that let in a fair amount of light and possibly chandeliers. There were also lots of couches and tables and big comfy chairs. There was usually at least one person from out group in the lounge at any given time and whoever was there first would grab a couch with a coffee table and a couple or 3 chairs so that there was plenty of room to expand the crowd. Usually someone was sleeping or just waking up so the couches were nice!

There was one guy in particular in our group who was very touchy feely, but not in a creepy, get-the-hell-away-from-me kind of way. You know the type, he would walk into a room and give all the girls hugs and then when he was sitting down, he would drape his arm around whoever was closest. Again, not creepy at all. But when you are a single gal and there are all sorts of guys around this room at any given time, you don't really want a friend invading your personal space and giving the wrong idea, you know?

One day, at a time when I wasn't dating anyone and the prospects were looking very meager, this guy was sitting next to me on a couch and he had his arm draped around me and was really leaning into me. I remember that this was a busy time in the lounge because there were at least 6 from the group there with us. I thought I was giving him some back off signals, but he wasn't picking up on them and when the conversation turned to dating, I said, "How is any guy supposed to know that I am single if this (motioning to the guy using me as a body pillow) is going on???"

Well!! The guy sat up, pulled his arm away from my shoulders and lifted his hand to the area above my head and pointed down at me and exclaimed for all in the crowded room to hear…. "I just want everyone in here to know.... JILL! IS AVAILABLE!" I believe that he even waited until he had EVERYONE's attention before finishing his 'speech.'

I could have DIED!! I was mortified! I just remember my jaw dropping and not being able to move from that spot for quite a while.

Now, this next story happened a short time later. I was dating a guy who decided that he had the perfect idea for a Valentine's Day gift for me.

Can you guess what it was???
After class on Valentine's Day, I made my way to the lounge and no one from my group was there. I sat quietly waiting for someone to show up. Imagine my surprise when a huge walking heart walked into the lounge. I thought, "OMG!! Some schmuck just wasted his money! This will be hysterical!!"

Then, it said, "I'm looking for Jill....."

For some reason, I stopped frequenting the lounge....

Happy Valentine's Day!!
