Two really good books for tonight!
Death Angel is the newest novel in the Alex Cooper series by Linda Fairstein - it was just released a few weeks ago. A woman's naked body is found in one of the ponds in Central Park with no identification. When the lake is dredged, several interesting artifacts are discovered - silver miniature replicas of the Park's buildings and statues. The investigation of the murder and the miniatures leads Alex, Mike and Mercer to the Dakota apartment and a legendary occupant with a 50 year old mystery.
Listening to this novel felt like returning to old friends. I think it was about this time last year that I read the last book in the novel and I was a little disappointed with that ending. While Alex's constant correction of Mike and Mike's constant bickering with Alex are irritating at times, it was not constant through the novel which was refreshing. As usual, the characters are quite interesting and the conclusion was much better in this novel!
At last!! W is for Wasted by Sue Grafton was also recently released. It has been just over a year since I read V is for Vengeance, but it feels like it was much longer in between the novels.
Kinsey is called to the coroner's office to identify a homeless man who passed away on the beach. While he had her contact information on him, she had never met him. At roughly the same time, an old PI acquaintance has been found in a local park shot to death. As Kinsey investigates the John Doe, she uncovers quite a few unexpected links.
I am not going to give away any plot details, but I can say that I was really, really blown away by this novel! I love Grafton's writing style and I love the narration by Judy Kaye and the story had so many twists and turns that I never saw coming. It. Was. Awesome! Bring on the next one!!
What are you reading?

ooh ooh! I didn't know "W" was out! I am going to be driving to CA by myself early Nov...I think I better find me a copy of this to keep me company!
ooh, I'll have to see if they are available on my library's overdrive media list.
I liked W a lot but felt it was probably 100 pages too long. It was a bit draggy for me. However, I'm ready for X!
