The stash bustng wagon that is! Jen, the quilting devil that she is, talked me into a new project for retreat. And I need a new project like I need a hole in my head! This is what we will do. It measures 56" square, but it uses 1.75" HSTs. I'm thinking that I can make it a little larger and use 2" or 2.25" HSTs. It will give me a chance to use EQ6 to try and figure the yardage I need.
But I have already purchased the yardage according to the pattern. A total of 4.78 yards. This is what I chose. The darkest is a black and deep purple mottled batik. For the lightest, I will be fussy cutting to get the pinky purple colors for the quilt.
And I broke down and bought the Memories of Monet quilt kit that they put together at the shop. The fabrics are gorgeous! But it was just over 10 yards of fabric! That totally kills all of the progress that I have made since January 1 on busting stash!

Hey! If you can afford it, buy it! Quilt shops are going to need all the business they can get in the next few months. The fabrics ARE gorgeous. I can't wait to see them both as quilts!
That is absoulutly gorgeous!!! The star pattern is stunning!!
And you can't force the willing!!!! Have a great time at the retreat, and you are going to be making - just "WOW" projects!! Beautiful!!!
I love the kit! I can't wait to see it. The other pattern is great. Not sure if I'm that crazy about the HST's to attemp it.
Gorgeous fabrics
Love and hugs Gina xxx
It has been bugging me since I saw your post this morning - could you tell me the name of the star pattern that you are doing??? I love it!! I would love to see it in person.... It is such a neat pattern. And the fabrics you have choosen, I can hardly wait to see it done!!
The Memories of Monet kit is fantastic. How could you go wrong with that? And the fabrics you picked for the star pattern are beautiful. Would that pattern lend itself to using Thangles because of all the HSTs?
Wow! As in awesome! So different! Love it!
Purchase, purchase! It is not like it will go to waste or anything! Right!?! 8-)
Happy stitchings!
I can't wait to see what progress you and Jen make on that quilt. It's looks super difficult but difinitely worth the work.
