Weekend Update

After sitting here at this PC for at least 30 minutes waiting for it to boot up, load whatever it has to load before it will open any programs and then actually opening my pages on Internet Explorer, I think that this is going to be a relatively fast post. I'm ready to get back upstairs to relax! lol

Last night, I was able to finish trimming up my large scraps for the 5" scrap containers. This morning I watched Everybody's Fine and pressed and trimmed the smaller scraps for the 2.5" containers. I only cut nickles and 2.5" squares and strips.

Behind my chair at my sewing table, so essentially, behind me when I am sewing, I have a hope chest that I use as storage and a place to put things to keep them close, but also out of the way. Once I finished trimming everything that I had out, the 2.5" containers were both overflowing. I guess that I need to start working on a quilt to use some of them up! lol

I was able to get everything smooshed into the containers and get the lids on them.

Once I put the containers in the stash room, I pulled out a few of the quilts that I am working on and want to work on now. There are 6 projects out now, but only 5 that I will try to actively work on - the 2 neighbor quilts, the Jitterbug Yellow Brick Road UFO, a blue and brown Bento box and a baby quilt UFO that hasn't been touched in over 2 years. I also will put my containers for scraps behind the project boxes and of course a container to hold selvages for Barb (HOLLLLLAAAAAAA!!! Have you used the others that I gave you already? lol) Can you believe that there are 6 projects here?

While I was putting things away and unpacking from my last sewing excursion with the Girlzzz, I decided to throw the poinsettia table runner up on the wall that I gave up on.

This is the pattern - Lucky Charms by Karen Montgomery. It's a strip pieced pattern and while you would think that it would work with a large print for the background, you can see that it does not. The squares that are in the center of what appear to be blocks are all split up into 3 sections each.

I'm thinking that at this point, this should all just be added to the scrap pile and another pattern should be found that will utilize the print better.

And here is Max. Every time I looked from my cutting to the TV, all I could see what his beady, little eyes watching me. It was kinda creepy! lol

sew the table runner As-Is and use it to practice something new to free-motion. I bet it will end up a favorite. It doesnt have to be the original design to look good, this one will keep people quessing 'what was she thinking' for years. Then it will be 'discovered', copied and hundreds of new quilters all over the world will be looking for just the right fabrics to make that beautiful table runner that....
(Ok so my story telling days are getting the best of me- just finish the piece and gift it-:)

I think Max is surprised you have 6 projects out to work on too! He says "Just play with me Momma!"

Hmmm... not sure what i would do with that one - I am inclined to say finish it as is.

Hard to believe that is 6 projects -can't wait to see them done!

Good job getting the scraps cut up. Looks like you'll have plenty of projects to keep you busy for a while. What about your Judy Martin?!?!

Since the table runner is almost done, I would probably finish it. Maybe make another one and use this as the backing?

Max looks like he wants some attention!

I'm with Cheryl. I think sometimes the more thought we put into something, the more difficult it becomes. I like Cheryl's philosophy!
love ya!

I have been doing the same thing as you, cutting my scraps into strips/blocks. Only, I have worked on this all week and still have lots to do. That is what you get when you don't take care of your scraps for a couple of years. LOL Maybe I need to limit it to just 2 1/2" and 5". I am also doing 3/3 1/2" and 1/ 1/2", though it didn't take me long to drop the 1 inch. LOL I think Max is just thinking about how much he loves his mama. Winona

You could add red for the small squares.
Keeping organized is good. I cant wait to see it all finished.

Jill just finish the table runner, it will make a great gift to pass onto someone. Either a friend, the giveaway, etc. Max looks like he want his momma to play with him for awhile. Stil wish i could get as much done in one week that you do in one day.

How about appliquing something in the centre squares. This might deflect from the print enough for the table runner to work.
Love the photo of Max
