Midget Mania!

I have been bitten by Midget Mania!!

Last September or October, while avoiding work searching BOMs on the net, I found the Magical Minis BOM's and patterns. Homestead Hearth has it here. The quilt blocks are 4" finished blocks and I think they are just darling! But I couldn't see myself signing up for the BOM or even buying the patterns for myself. I actually searched for the Magical Mini's again last month and was very close to signing up, but I resisted.

I'm glad that I did...

In reading blogs on Thursday, Amy S. posted about Midget Blocks here. They are just adorable!!!

Basically, Gay at Sentimental Stitches has a quilt that she is reproducing in 4 1/2" finished blocks and she is posting the patterns for each block on the web! The blocks are so cute, I can not resist them!! She is up to block 111 and I think that there are 187 in the original quilt.

Almost as soon as I saw the patterns, I emailed some buddies to let them know and see if they wanted to do a quilt along. I got two who will be cheerleaders and two who were interested, although Regina thinks that Shellie may not want to do it now. But Regina is in!

This morning, I downloaded all of the patterns that are available and I have to say that I will be substituting some. Most of the blocks are paper pieced and there are a handful of curve blocks and applique blocks. I am willing to try my hand at some of them, but.... Gay has posted some extra blocks to use as substitutions and she has clearly marked that on her patterns. I plan on doing a few substitutions, I'm just going to put that out there now! :)

How about you, Readers? Would anyone else be interested in a quilt along with me and Regina? We are thinking that we won't start until mid or late October so there will be plenty of time to gather your fabrics and download the patterns and get everything prepped to start sewing. And we are thinking that we only want to commit to doing 1 or maybe 2 blocks a week. We are going to take it easy! :)

If there is interest, I can host a Quilt Along and we can all support each other!

Maxie wants to know if there is any interest in a Chew Along!

4.5" blocks are scary to me but I'm going to check it out. Maybe some point in the future?

Maxie seems to be well into the Chew Along! I predict a finish there!

Good morning Jill. I checked these blocks out. Whoa. Too tiny for me, but I will be cheering you on. I am sure that by now, Maxie has won the battle with the chew toy. LOL Have a great weekend. Winona

I am going to do these blocks using my 1930's fabrics and a bleached muslin. I would love to be in the quilt along. (If I do some ahead of time then I won't feel to rushed around Christmas)

Well Jill--for what it's worth, go ahead and count me in (even though I've already started). I hope to continue with at least one block a week once volleyball season starts next week; so who knows; maybe by the time season is over, we'll all be at the same spot??? ;0)

I started a lil' Midget Madness column on the right of my blog...to keep me honest.

Maxie is sure having fun! Love that! My doxie loves to play with those but he talks all the time (or growls and barks) so it drives me crazy!!

Hmmmm. Just downloaded about 90 of them. Think I'll give it a try so count me in. I think I can handle at least 1 a week, maybe 2.

Love and hugs Gina xxx

Amy told me about your idea. I have been trying to resist these adorable blocks, but they are just too cute!
Don't tell anyone, but I might give in and join in with your quilt along!

Hmm something not to big to keep me busy while Keith is gone? What do you think? I really need to get away from the baby shower planning and get back to working on my stuff.
