Year of the PIGS

A while ago, I mentioned doing a UFO Challenge on my blog and I was planning to post this challenge a couple of weeks ago, but then Judy L. mentioned her Challenge and I didn't want to over saturate blog land with challenges that might be too similar. This week, after some encouragement, I decided to put my ideas down in an email and got some great responses from it so here it is!

The Year of the PIGS*

I envision this Year of the PIGS to be more of a support group than a challenge. For those of us whose stash, kits and UFOs** are bigger than our stash rooms. I think that most of us tend to bite off more than we can chew very now and then, but are your bites so large that you get too overwhelmed and have no idea where to begin? Have you ever thought about how you ended up with your 529 PIGS, UFOs and ideas that you just have to make?

My idea is to post questions every 2 weeks (or twice a month, maybe) for bloggers and non-bloggers to answer and have a Mr. Linky for everyone to share their posts and answers with everyone else. Questions will be UFOs, PIGS and stash related. For example, how do you store your UFO's and PIGS? Or what is the #1 reason why your UFOs go from active projects to UFOs?

I think it will be interesting to see how other quilters answer questions and to hear about readers using tips that are included in answers.

Oh yeah! And every month, I will pull a name from the Mr. Linky posts and the winner will get a little surprise form me. You don't have to sign up at the beginning to have a chance to win and you don't have to answer every question either. But won't it be fun?

For you bloggers, if you want to take the button/badge for your blog, just copy the code that is underneath the picture and add it to your sidebar or a post. Isn't the badge adorable?

For those of you non-bloggers out there, you can still play, too. You can answer the question in comments of the Mr. Linky post and indicate in your name field that your answer is in the comments.

I think the first question will be - How do you store your UFOs and PIGS separate from your fabric stash? Pictures would awesome to share, too! And I think that we will do the first post on Wednesday, January 5, 2011. This will give you a few days to post your answer.

Thanks to Regina for the button! And thanks to Amy K for letting me steal the Year of the PIGS name!

Love this idea! I am going to get my sewing room organized in the next couple of days, so I can see what I have and what needs to be done. I like this much better than trying to get UFO's done that I have listed. That NEVER works for me! :)

What does it say about me if some of my PIGS have...well..NAMES!? They have been with me so long, they are like family !! rotlf I have been working in the sewing room today after a drought of about 2 weeks. It is heavenly in there! Just wish I had no laundry to force me out once an hour! Happy New Year!

Sounds like fun, I've already gotten started trying to organize my PIGS/UFO's with the intention of just having one project out at a time. That's the trouble of having too many ideas, too much fabric(if that's possible!), too many patterns and not enough time!

I "killed" a PIG today and hope to have many more to follow... :-)

I like your idea. I've made great strides on my UFOs, but haven't really dug out my PIGS. I'm not even sure how many I have! So year of the PIGS works for me.

My PIGs are all in rubbermaid containers or boxes in a dresser or on the one side of the closet.

My PIGS are in bags and piles and containers and some sit by my machine and some near the iron and some more on my cutting table. So guess I should get my PIGS all organized.

I saw the PIGs button on another blog and had to go check this out. Such a cute button - you know! This looks like a lot of fun. I'll add the button to my blog today and I look forward to particapaiting if I'm not to late.

CUTE button and great idea.
I have pigs Every Where. I need to build a pen for them so I have all my pigs in a Pig Pen. HM< I'm thinking a large rubbermaid tub. It should be clear so I can see them all. Out of Sight Out of Mind definitely rules my life.
