Bowtie Customer quilts

Almost 2 weeks ago, I picked up a couple of quilts from a lady who was given my name for quilting. I had talked to her on the phone a couple of times before we met and I knew she had 2 twin sized quilts to be quilted. Turns out that she had the center of two quilts pieced and wants me to add border fabric and backing fabric and get them quilted. Since I was already doing all of that, I offered to get the binding made and machine stitched on as well. So I have a lot to do on these quilts. She said that she trusted my judgement on the fabric selections and she gave me a little cash up front which helped.

Yesterday, I looked at the quilts and took them to Joann's with me to pick out fabrics. I was a little worried that I would find a fabric that I liked and that there wouldn't be enough for everything that I needed, but I really lucked out that there was plenty of fabric on both bolts that I found!

I was also worried that the two centers that she gave me were not big enough and that I would have to have a lot of border to make them the twin size that she wanted, but once I measured them I found that they were both good sized and I wouldn't have to do much with the borders.

Here is the first quilt. This one is a little larger than the second so all I need to do is add one border and then quilt it.

And this is the fabric that we picked for the borders and backing.

And the second quilt is shorter by just 2 rows. I drew the dimensions up in EQ and decided to add a thin colored border, then a white border and then the colored border on the outside to make it a good sized twin quilt.

And a close up of the border fabric. Margie had picked up some white to help with the borders so I am going to use that and the blue fabric has the nice white accent in it and I think that it is going to turn out just lovely.

And luckily, there was enough of both fabrics for the backings!

It's a little odd to pick up a quilt at this stage, but I think it will be nice to just add the borders and get them quilted. And I know that Margie will be happy to have finished quilts to use. She said that the centers had been assembled for many years.

I really like the blue fabric. It makes all the colors of the quilt pop. Can't wait to see the finished quilt. Hugs

Nice finishes. Odd that you're doing all of the finishing but I'm sure she will be very pleased. You pick some nice fabrics for the borders.

You are a peach to do the borders - they are just about my least favorite part of quilting! Hope you have fun with them both.

Hum, I don't think my local JoAnns has those fabrics! (ok, I haven't been for several weeks... so maybe they've gotten them in...) Both fabrics look perfect with the bow ties. And, I love bow ties! These quilts look so fresh and happy!
