Fur Ball Quilt

I am making a quilt to be raffled off at the SPCA's fund raiser, the Fur Ball. I think that calling this quilt the Fur ball is very appropriate. I have finished the blocks and laid them out and am ready to sew them together.

And my co-worker said that I had the weekend to finish it up so I will have the time to get borders added and still get it quilted and the binding finished this weekend. I am not sure about the border fabric though.

The fabric is dogs scattered on the fabric every which way. But I can't decide if it will work on the quilt if I just cut it width of fabric. Or if I need to cut it length of fabric to attach it to the sides.

Here is a larger view of the fabric and it is showing as if I cut it width of fabric to attach it to the quilt blocks.

Will it make a difference? Or will it be OK if I just do width of fabric? Thoughts?

If the dogs are pointing every which way... really shouldn't matter. If most are standing one way... then have them 'standing' correctly. Just my thoughts.

Jill, is the color true in this picture? I'm asking because that tan background on the doggy fabric doesn't seem to play well with the colors in the quilt on my monitor. And I agree, the doggies don't seem to have a specific orientation, so you could do WIF - but would that mean piecing the border?

I was thinking the same thing Michele is. While the dogs are very cute, I don't think the tan/brown works well with the quilt top. But if you do use it, going every which way isn't going to matter. I don't think anyway.

Jill piecing the strips will not show up that much since it is a busy print so wof would work.

I agree that the direction doesn't matter. Do what is quickest :)

Do it the quickest way because I don't think it'll matter. Cute, cute quilt!
