Book Review Thursday - 7/5

Just one book for today. I'm still working on reading/listening to some of the books that have been on my iPod for a while.

Until Proven Guilty by J.A. Jance is the first in the J. P. Beaumont series. Set in Seattle, Beaumont is a detective with a new partner, Peters, and they haven't quite bonded yet. They catch a homicide of a 5 year old girl who has been strangled and dumped in a ravine. Several hours after the body was discovered, Beau and Peters finally get the call of a missing child and have to deal with a religious cult specializing in physical abuse.

This book definitely sets up the series and I think it will be interesting to see how many books in it takes for Beau's archenemy and newspaper reporter to be killed and Beau framed for the murder. The characters are interesting and there is room for them all to be expanded upon. The story was definitely unique. I'm interested to see if the author can keep that up through the other books in the series.

Jill, I have read all the Beaumont books and the Joanna Brady series, and Ali Walker series by Jance. You will love them. I can't wait till the next one is released.

See you in October.
