Book Review Thursday - 1/10

I decided to keep up with the book reviews, but I might not be as in detail in my reviews with some books. I do like to be able to look back and see what I thought about prior books when I reviewed them. So for those of you who don't like them, sorry, but they are sticking around! :)

By Stone, by Blade,by Fire is the latest novel in the Barbara Holloway series by Kate Wilhelm. It looks like it is only available as a eBook or an audio book. I am OK with that because the narrator, Carrington MacDuffie, is exceptional!

A woman comes to Barbara asking her to defend her son who has been accused of murdering his father's accountant. Travis' story is that he was pushed into a room, hit over the head and woke up in the hospital with Joseph Peel dead of a gunshot wound and 2 eye witnesses who said that Travis pulled the trigger. Typical Holloway investigation and court room antics ensue.

I loved it!! I forgot how much I enjoy this series and I kept dragging out the listening of it to make it last!

See, Travis' father is a preacher of a what can only be described as a cult. He preaches that recreational sex is sin and when his kids were teenagers, he attempted to punish them when they were going through puberty. Barbara also uncovers some very odd business with donations to the Reverend's church and close ties between the church and a couple of very shady groups.

This book had all the intrigue and conspiracy theories that are present in all of the books in the series. Did I mention that I loved it? It was just released in December and I absolutely can not wait for the next book in the series. Ms. Wilhelm... GET BUSY WRITING!!! :)
