WIP Wednesday - 9/4

Sunday, I got the blocks for Easy Street laid out. Monday, I sewed the majority of the quilt together - I just had one seam left to stitch. I did that on Tuesday. Woot!!

Now, I can pick the border, get the backing, make the binding and put it in line for quilting!

This was Bonnie Hunter's holiday mystery for 2012 and I used the colors that she suggested so I can't take any credit for the color selection or the placement. I followed the pattern to the letter.

I did spend some time yesterday looking at border options and I have narrowed down to 3 or 4. One is purple with teal and lime green squiggles, but I'm wondering if it might be too much. I also need to measure the center to see what size it came to so I can make a decision about the border size and how much fabric I will need. Maybe I will get to that tonight.

I also worked on quilting a quilt for my dog sitter. The pattern is Picture This from the Happy Hour book and it calls for small and medium scale prints. I decided to add the charcoal gray to every block so tone down the prints a little and I am happy with how the quilt top turned out.

I'm just quilting a stipple because the quilt will be almost reversible - the backing is a pretty floral print that can be showed off when she feels the need. :)

Love your Easy Street. The bold colors really are outstanding. You should take credit because others used Bonnie's colors and they do not look as good as this!

Your Easy Street really does look gorgeous!! I made mine in an entirely different color palette, but seeing yours makes me wish I'd gone with Bonnie's colors... ;)

I know those were Bonnie's color choices for the quilt, but I think the actual fabrics you picked are great!

I love the quilt for your dog sitter! it's adorable!

LOVE the Easy Street quilt. Give yourself some credit. While you worked with the colors she suggested, you did pick out the prints. Love it!

that backing is very pretty!! What about a solid color for your Easy Street top? It is AWESOME, btw. Since there is a lot going on in the quilt, I think a solid green, blue or purple for the border would make a nice resting place for the eyes. Whatever you chose... it will be great.

You should take the credit for the easy street, she may have listed the colors but you put the prints together. I really LOVE this one, I am sure you will find just the right fabric for the border. Love how you are using a print for the back of the doggy quit so it gives 2 different looks.

Your Easy Street looks great. I was hoping you would show us your 3 or 4 border choices. I had a difficult time with that part too. Hence why mine is not finished yet! I like your dog sitters quilt too.

Love your easy street. I like seeing everyone's selections no two are alike even if you stayed within bonnie's color scheme. Can't wait to see what you choose for borders.
