Design wall Monday - 1/27

Tonight, I finished the weighted blanket for my friend. I used 4 tablespoons of poly pellets in each pocket. I created the pockets by laying the top and backing right sides together and sewing up three sides and turning the layers inside out. I then sewed on each side of the column of squares from the open side to the opposite end. I measured the pellets, made sure they were all at the bottom of each column and then sewed the row shut. When I got to the last row, I had to trim the squares because the backing didn't meet the end. I used the last bit of blue fabric I had and finagled a binding for just that one side.

Next time, I think I will just sew the three sides with the wrong sides together and then bind the entire thing.

This wasn't too hard of a project and I know that my friend's little boy is going to get a lot of help from the weight of this. :)

I would like to make one of these for my son. Hope you don't mind my questions. Can you say more about the size? And did you not use batting, just the pellets? Where did you buy the poly pellets? Thanks so much for sharing! It looks gorgeous!
