I have just started to fall in love with these 'modern' quilts that people all talk about - they are fun and just more ways to sew with my fabrics!! this book, I would like to see because of what the title is, but also because I know you have done some of the quilting inside it - so I would be able to see your work in a book I have!!!

Six years ago, I started my little blog to meet other quilters online and to share my quilting hobby with friends. I still enjoy meeting the new people online through comments and other blogs and I have really enjoyed getting to know others better in the last six years!

My 2,000th Post Giveaway!!

When I started blogging on the quilt specific blogging site in July 2007, I had no idea that I would keep blogging for so many years and I know that I didn't even consider writing 2,000 posts! It's amazing to me that I have done it!

I have made some amazing friends from the blog and even meet some of them in person - Regina, Jennifer, Amy, Ruth and Judy L. are the ones that immediately come to mind!

Having the blog was also an ice breaker with Jean who announced that she had read my blog when I met her at a Guild meeting. When I went to the first Shipshewana retreat, I met Donna and Vera and they knew me from my blog and it was like we already knew each other.

Having the blog helped secure my turn as a quilter for the Scrap Squad and you can read all about my quilts here.

Documenting my quilts and quilting on the blog has been a fantastic way for me to keep track of how long I have been working on a project and how many UFOs I have. It has also helped me keep track of goals and lists of things to do occasionally.

I think it is going to be a great way for me to keep track of my vintage machine collection. :)  And knitting projects.

Enough of this sappy stuff! It's time to get to what everyone has been patiently waiting for.... THE GIVEAWAY!!!

I am giving away QUILTING! Yes, I am going to choose a winner from the comments and quilt a quilt for her (or him). There will be restrictions, of course.

1. Maximum quilt size of 65" square. 
2. Winner pays for all other expenses - shipping, batting, and anything else that might come up.
3. Quilting will not be a custom quilt design, but I have a wide range of pantographs and free hand designs available.
4. This quilting is only available to US residents only because I don't want to deal with international shipping of a quilt. Sorry. :(

Quilting Gallery's Birthday Giveaway Winner

I was out running through WalMart last night and didn't get home until late so I figured I would just pull a name today.

Giveaway - Quilting Gallery's birthday!

Happy 5th birthday to the Quilting Gallery!

Stash Report Week 49, 2012

A lot to report this week!!

I finally got the giveaway items from my September giveaway made and mailed out.



I also shipped out a box of fabric that amounted to just under 6 pounds. At 3 yards a pound, this was a great bust for my dwindling numbers from the past few weeks!

And I finally started on my Dresden Plate quilt. I am resigning myself to the fact that the top maybe be finished, but there is almost certainly no way that the entire quilt will be done before the meeting on Wednesday. Oh well. The block on the left is a 12" block and the block on the right is a 9" block that was already re-made once. I am not really liking how it turned out, but I am almost out of those fabrics so I will either have to make another block of a different color or see what I can scrounge up from leftovers. sigh

I have to say that I was very pleased to see so many comments from new quilters! There were several who are working on their first quilt or on number three. One or two who just took their first class to learn within the last couple of months. This is fantastic to see that the craft is being picked up by new people and will be carried on (hopefully) to future generations!!

I was also amazed that there were only 6 No Reply commenters that I had to delete! Thanks to the rest who included your emails!

WIP Wednesday - 12/5

I finally got the giveaway items for my last giveaway in September done. I am a slacker! I am sending 2 vintage-ish magazines, a thread catcher (left), a tool caddy (middle), a runaround bag (top right) and what I call a take along bag (middle right). I use my take along bag for my binding supplies and it is wonderful to be able to keep everything together.



I got 1 quilt quilted and tried out 2 new to me quilting designs. Double loops and ribbon stipple.





This is the quilt on the frame now. I'm just quilting a stipple over everything but the bright fabric diamonds.



And I finished the wall hanging for my co-worker. She said it was a big hit at the surprise birthday party!



I have spent the last few days wrapping up some loose ends so that I have nothing to distract me from the Dresden Plate quilt. I MUST have it done by next Wednesday. It is now the only thing on my list. I seriously need a big kick in the pants to get started on this. But I have a vision of the quilt blocks, the quilt top, the quilting and the finished quilt. Hmmm.... I wonder if they can just put that on the wall at the show.... lol

I also had an eye exam and got new glasses last week. They are quite a change from my last pair which I have had for 2 years which were a very close match to the pair I wore before that for 2+ years, etc. I'm still not used to seeing them on me when I look in a mirror, but I am getting more comfortable with them! I think that I finally got them adjusted so that they are not lopsided horizontally AND so that they stick out from my face the same amount. It's kind of a pain to have your eyelashes on just one eye hit the glasses. lol

Tiny Tuesday - 12/4

Another week and no block. This is the block that I should be working on.



I think that I am going to rework this one. Those circles are way to small for a 4.5" finished block!

Instead, I finished the giveaway gifts from my September giveaway. Just in time for Christmas, Debbie!

Sew Mama Sew Giveaway!

Tiny Tuesday - 5/15

I did not make a block this week. I had planned to make it Monday night and then I got a wild hair and decided to shop for some flowers and I ended up getting home later than I had planned. When I got home, a group of neighbors came over to see my flowers and plants and I asked one of them about removing a bush next to my front door. I just meant like later this week, but he pulled out his ropes and chains, hooked up the tree and pulled it out of the ground within 20 minutes. Woo hoo!! And after all that effort, everyone hung out and drank some beer so I of course had to join them. It would have been rude of me to leave them outside of my place to go inside and sew, right?

And then tonight, I spent the evening prepping the 2 new flower beds I have acquired so that I can actually plant my plants.

So those are my excuses for not having any new Midget blocks to show. As penance, I have decided to have a little giveaway for anyone who links to a post below showing off any blocks they have made recently that are smaller than 9". They can be any kind of blocks - Midget, 4 patches, crumbs, you name it! Just tiny blocks smaller than 9". Just link to a blog post below and I will draw a name on Friday night.

I'm thinking that the prize will be several FQs and/or regular quarter yards of fabric in a colorway of the winner's choosing. And I could probably find a magazine to throw in as well.

And since we are talking tiny blocks, I laid out my Midget blocks so far and took a few shots. I think they look awesome, not that I'm biased or anything! lol

Spring Cleaning - Massive giveaway day?

I have been doing a bit of spring cleaning and finding some things that I know I can part with. Some old magazines and some bags that I donated for a sale that I got back when they didn't sell. Perhaps some old patterns and just maybe some fabric...

As I was moving things around and the pile of things to go started growing, it got me thinking that I have not done a giveaway on the blog in a long time and that I should probably take action to correct that issue.

And that got me to thinking... maybe there are some other bloggers who could be in the same position with some items that they have outgrown or that they won't use any more. What if I coordinated an online giveaway? A day where a group of bloggers posted giveaways, linked their giveaway posts to my blog and then bloggers from all over could have many chances to win something special.

At this point, I am just trying to see if there is any interest from other bloggers to participate and have a giveaway on their blogs. I am contemplating a separate giveaway for the bloggers who participate and maybe a bonus of quilting services if the participating bloggers reaches a certain number.

Any thoughts? Fantastic idea? Something to totally scrap?

Maxie thinks it sounds promising, but he'd like to sleep on the idea for a bit.

Fabric Goodies

In the last couple of weeks, I have gotten new fabric that I haven't purchased. I have been putting off showing it because I hadn't added any of it to my Stash Report. Well, it has now been added so I must show it!

Several weeks ago, I got an email from Melinda asking for my address because she saw something that I just had to have. I believe that I got the envelope right around Thanksgiving so I totally spaced about even sending Melinda a thank you. (By the way, Melinda.... I got it! lol) Brand new doxie fabric!! It is sooo stinkin' cute!!! I have to see what I can make with it....



Then, I won a giveaway that Jean was having at her blog. I won the cutest set, I think! It's a bit out of my normal fabric tastes, but I am eager to find something that I can make with them!



Maxie, my 'princess,' is very picky about where he will eat his food. This morning, it was on the bed while he was covered up. He probably thinks that a doggie place mat is in order for his dining pleasure.




Won't he be very disappointed! lol

Stash Report Week 41, 2010

I was planning on cutting some fabric this week, but I got 2 quilts quilted and sent off and then I was going to cut yesterday, but I ended up sewing on my black and white blocks instead. There will be plenty of fabric cut though in preparation for the quilt retreat.

Yesterday, I had to stop by a quilt shop down the street about their ad for the Guild's Newsletter and I saw this kit ...



For these trivets...




And I have just added another project to take with me to the retreat! I think that this will have to be the prize for my mini giveaway last week. I still haven't picked a name, but I haven't forgotten either. :)
