Retreat - my projects

I'm coming to the end of my retreat pictures. I promise! But now, it's time for me to show off everything that I got done at retreat!

The first thing I did was make a bottom for my Lazy Girl Margo bag. I did not want to have a saggy bottom! I used the pieces for the sleeve from the pattern and made a sleeve. I then cut 3 pieces of Peltex, layered the pieces and slid them into the sleeve. I would've bought a Bag-E-Bottom, but they aren't sold around here and I didn't have time to order it before retreat.

Bag before.

Bag after. It's a slight difference, but it does give the bag a firmer bottom. lol

After I got my bag squared away, I pulled out the pieces for the blocks on my second neighbor's quilt (this one is for the girlfriend). I was only going to work on making the blocks, but once I got the blocks made, I realized it would be very quick to get the center of the top assembled. The fabrics are Orientals except for the gray background.

Next, I worked on my Mystery blocks. I got 2 finished and 1 almost made. I need to pull out my fabric and redo one HST and then I will have a third block finished.

When I needed a change from the Mystery blocks, I switched to the setting blocks for the 2009 $2 a block BOM. I got all of the setting blocks finished, sewed the sashings on and worked on the horizontal sashing rows until I ran out of sashing pieces.

Then, I worked on the strip sets for my granma's quilt. I got all of the sets made and pressed.

And in between all of this, I worked on my Whimsy Split Decision quilt. This was my leader and ender project and I think that I got the first step of sewing done for a little more than half of the sets. Woo hoo!

Either the pups like this top or they just like standing on fabric! lol

I've never heard of Bag-E Bottoms! I have a large tote that needs a bottom and I'm going to measure it. I think it's bigger than what they carry but thank you for a link to a good resource.

Your Mystery 2009 blocks came out great. I've been intimidated by how many pieces they have. I'm afraid I'm going to cut something wrong or mess up and not have enough fabric.

You got a lot completed at retreat and it seems you brought enough to not get bored.

I like your bag with the better bottom. I don't buy the bag e bottoms but I use plexiglass for mine. I buy a whole sheet of plexiglass at a time. It's cheap and I use it for a lot of things, not just purse bottoms. I make a sleeve and slip in in like you do...I do sand off the edges too so they are not sharp.

You got alot done...good for you. Don't you feel great when you get so much accomplished? The pups agree with me on that. They are proud of you too.
