Black Friday shopping!

It started on Wednesday night when I was stalking the JoAnn's to see what was out and where it was in the stores. I saw that these items were 25% off. Woo hoo!! I picked them up because I knew they would be needed.

This morning, I headed out around 5:20 to wait in line at JoAnn's for the deals. I hit Starbuck's first for a Chai Tea Latte (YUMMY!!!) and a snack. When I pulled up to pay, the cashier said that the car in front of me paid for my order and said, "Happy holidays!" I decided to pay for the order in the car behind me. What a great way to start the day! It still gives me the warm fuzzy feeling!

I went to JoAnn's and there were 2 cars parked in front of the store and no line and there was still 20 minutes to wait until it was open. I waited in my car enjoying my snack and tea until 5:52 and then got out to get a normal cart. Once I got out, all of the other shoppers followed and waited patiently in line. When they opened the doors, we all filed in and got to shopping. I was surprised that there was not a frantic grabbing of fabrics like I have seen in past years. I was joking with 2 of the employees at the cutting counter that I was going to stop for donuts for the store, but we don't have a Dunkin' Donuts close and they seemed bummed.

Once I finished at this first store, I was going to head home, but figured that the deals were so great and some things were not at this store so I headed to the bigger store about 15 minutes away. I was still one of the first 100 customers so I ended up with 2 free pairs of scissors that they were giving away to the first 100 customers. Score! :-D Most of this yarn is for my granma to make booties and for her to share with the ladies in her Senior group to make baby caps. I did get some flannel for pillowcases and some fleece to make a dog blanket for my aunt's new dog.

When I left the second JoAnn's, I headed to a different shopping area and figured that I would stop by Bed, Bath and Beyond to look for another Christmas present and I was greeted with a coupon and a big smile there. I found a display of what I was looking for, but not the specific item. I was helped by 2 employees and they found what I needed and I was able to leave there with another thing marked off my list. I was so impressed by the 2 employees that helped me and the cashier that I found the manager and thanked her and told her how nice it was to stop in.

After that, I headed to Target. I didn't find what I was looking for, but I also didn't find any unhappy or rude shoppers there despite the crowd. I made a stop at PetSmart (see below for pictures) and then hit a bakery where I picked up some cookies. On my way home, I dropped the cookies off at the JoAnn's that I shopped at first this morning. It felt great leaving them a little token of appreciation!

The pups were very excited to see me when I got home.

They were more excited to see the goodies that I brought them!

I did a little online shopping last night too...I was surprised to see that the Black Friday specials were available. We did a lot of shopping today. My husband and I do Black Friday often and overwhelmingly shoppers are nice as are the employees.

Wow. You are a great shopper. Glad to see all your super deals on AccuQuilt items. And love the goodies you found for your cute four legged kids.

I went to my local JoAnns mid-day. Line went from the cash register to the back of the store, where they cut fabric, and wrapped around a few isles. Needless to say I walked out. But I did have fun shopping at my LQS and several online stores.

Wow! You did great! I found a deal at Joann's also. I purchased a portable sewing table for $47.33 after all of my discounts. They were handing out free$5 gift cards as you entered Joann's this morning. We ended up going to Gamestop and Target. But Target was too much of a zoo, so we left.

You make it sound almost pleasant. This is one of the days of the year when I have intentionally planned to do nearly ANYTHING but shop. Maybe I'll have to reconsider next year.

Looks like you got a GO! I went yesterday afternoon, not really expecting to find any left...went to the shelf and sure enough there weren't any left. I asked the cutting clerk if they had any and she said they sold the last one that morning. No rainchecks either! So I was disappointed but went down another aisle and there sat one, not where it should've been(did someone move it so they could come back for it later?!) I snatched it up and went to the clerk to make sure it was really the GO and was able to get it! I took it as a sign that I was to have it when I found it like that! I hadn't quite talked myself into getting it till then!
I hope you keep us posted on what you use it for. I talked to the checkout clerk and she loves hers.
