On the Needles - 10/18

No change on my needles...

Pattern is Hermione's Everyday Sock
Yarn is Heritage Silk Paints

But I ordered new needles for my sweaters and just had to grab up one of Judy's yarns!

The yarn is super soft and I can't wait to use it!

On the Needles - 10/11

I have been doing some knitting on my second sock and a bit of swatching this week!

Here is the progress on my second sock. I have the cuff finished and I have done two of the repeats of the pattern.

I started swatching for the Dianthe cardigan that is in the Capra Collection by Knit Picks. I bought Capra in the same gray as the pattern. I think that I am going to like working with this yarn!

101_2251

I decided to swatch for the Infinity Cardigan as well. I may have jumped the gun and ordered the needles thinking that I had the right size, but they may not work as I am just a tad under the 4 inches required for the swatch and I have 4 extra stitches on the needles. This yarn is Knit Picks Palette.

Here was where I was 2 weeks ago with my Hermione's Everyday Socks.

And here is where I am now.

On the Needles - 9/13

Progress! I got the heel turned, picked up flap stitches and am working on the gusset.

The pattern is Hermione's Everyday Socks and the yarn is Heritage Silk Paints from my stash.

I'm still getting used to knitting with the instep stitches split between the 2 needles, but it seems to be working ok. Without slipping the first stitches on the heel flap, the side stitches were a bitch to pick up, but I managed. It just took me 2 lunch breaks to get it done.

I'm linking up at Judy's blog.

On the Needles - 7/20

Be sure to check out the 2,000th post giveaway!

I don't think that I have gotten any further on my socks since my last update. I need to get back to work on them...

The yarn is Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in Hickory.

The pattern is Zora by Regina Satta on Ravelry.

Last week during the CMQG shop hop, I stopped into a yarn store in Waynesville and found these balls of Sockotta and Trekking XXL. And they were on sale so they came home!

Progress made! I got the heel made and turned and started on the decreases!

I love how these are looking, but I think that they are going to be a tad too small for me to wear. sigh...

On the Needles - 6/7

During the guild meeting this week, I finished what might be the last set of stitches on the leg. I need to look at the pattern and the first sock to make sure, but I am pretty sure that I am ready to start the heel!

On the Needles - 5/31

After being stalled for a few weeks on my second sock, I got to knit quite a bit last weekend.

Monday it was nice enough outside that Regina and I sat outside doing hand work - I knit socks and she sewed binding.

I almost got the leg done!

101_1865

The yarn is Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in Hickory. The second sock is just a tad darker. sigh And the color in the first picture is the truer color.

I have made a little progress on my second sock.

On The Needles - 4/26

Not too much progress on the second sock, but I got the first cable done. I left my stitch markers in Florida so the first few rows of the pattern were a little difficult, but I made it through.

101_1701

The pattern is Zora and is free on Ravelry. The yarn is Madelinetosh in Hickory.

This will be nice to work on during lunch at the office. Hopefully I can show a little more progress next week.

Infinity Cardigan

I finally got the yarn for the Infinity Cardigan!

I still need to do a swatch with the yarn to see what size needles I need and then make sure that I have the circular needles with the correct size needles and wire.

Here is the yarn that I picked. It is Grizzly Heather Palette by Knit Picks.

101_1696

And while I was taking the picture, Max decided that he needed one, too!

101_1695

I know that I am supposed to be getting back to the Midget blocks, but there is so much going on and I haven't really been sewing anything. I had to get the basement ready for the new quilting frame and now I have to work on some swap blocks that I had no business signing up for that are due this weekend. So much to do, so little time!! Hopefully, I will get back to the Midgets soon. I have not forgotten them!

On The Needles - 4/19

I am still working on my second Zora sock, but I have finished the cuff!

101_1673

I actually did one extra row by mistake, but I am leaving it since no one will be able to tell.

The yarn is Madelinetosh in Hickory. And I know that if I ever make this pattern again, I will use a larger size needle so that the socks are not pulled so tight on my foot. :)

I haven't done much on this second sock because I have been spending my evenings working on the basement to get things cleaned out and ready for the Avante delivery and set up. I'm making progress!

On The Needles - 3/8

I finally got to the toe decreases on my second sock and I have made a little more progress since getting there. You can see in the closer view that the stitches are just starting to cut in towards the center of the foot. Woo hoo!! The yarn is Knit Picks Stroll sock yarn.

101_1395

101_1396

I have been trying to decide on the pattern and yarn for the next pair of socks. As I mentioned last week, I want to try a patterned sock this time and I want to make cables and use a chart. I picked out the pink and brown yarn to use, but then I realized that the cables won't show up as well so I think that I am going to go with the brown to the left. It is Madelinetosh in Hickory and it will be a new experience for me to use this yarn as well. I am really branching out!

101_1397

The yarn to the right is Palette by Knit Picks and it will be the yarn that I will use for the Infinity Cardigan. I remembered that I bought a kit from Knit Picks and I checked to see what the yarn was last night. I am going to use this yarn to knit a swatch to make sure of the size needles that I need for the cardigan. I am ready to start it without even trying the cabled socks!

And I have my eBook that I won. Here is a picture of the cardigan from the book. The book is a Knit Picks publication. I really love this sweater!!

I also should mention that when I was pulling out the kit, I was a little shocked to find another bag of sock yarn. I really need to get knitting!

On the Needles - 3/1

I was knitting diligently on my second sock in Stroll from Knit Picks when I got a rush quilting job in so I had to put the knitting away for a while.

I got a little more the foot done.

 101_1363

I am excited to finish this sock so that I can start on the next pair. I have downloaded and printed off 4 different patterns from the Ravelry site so that I can try my hand at cables and working with a chart.

Last week, Knit Picks announced their 2013 Spring Collection on their blog. They called it First Light and the patterns are available individually or as the collection. I absolutely fell in love with the Infinity Cardigan that can be seen here.

I went looking on Ravelry to see what I could find and I signed up for the Knit Along because I am going to make this sweater! There was a chance to enter for a copy of the collection and I entered it and I got an email this afternoon that I won!! I am so stoked!! I actually screamed out loud when I realized that I had won!

I think this is just a sign that I need to work on the next pair of socks in order to master the cabling and chart reading so I can start on this sweater as soon as I get the yarn. And my only real decision is to pick a color for the yarn!

On the Needles - 2/15

Still a day behind....

This week, I finished my ruffle scarf. Just in time to be sent to a new owner. :)

101_1343

And I finished the leg on my second sock and started on the heel. Woo hoo!!! Stroll sock yarn from Knit Picks and it feels awesome!

101_1346

I am just about ready to start thinking about what yarn to use for my next pair. AND whether I want to try my hand at a patterned sock. :)

See what others are knitting at Judy's blog!

On the Needles - 1/4/13

While it was wonderful to have a day off during the week, it has thrown me off for the last part of my week. Wednesday, it felt like Thursday to me. Thursday, it felt like Friday. Today being Friday, I really don't feel like I should be getting ready for work, but that's what I am doing - or will be doing momentarily. I just want to go back to bed!

Instead of working on my sock this week to get the toe done and get it off the needles to start the match to the pair, I bought new yarn last Saturday and have been slowly working on that all week.

Here is my sock - still in the same state.

101_1225

And here is what I have been working on. The yarn is Sashay and is purple, red and orange and is knitting up into a ruffle scarf. I had a little trouble figuring out how to knit with this yarn. When I first started, the sides were just laying upon the one before in a cone-ish manner and not at all ruffle-y.

101_1226

This yarn did take a little getting used to. I had been knitting back and forth and have since starting wrapping the lace around few stitches on the needle and it seems to be working now.

On the Needles Friday - 12/7

I'm still working on my first sock of this new pair. Considering how long it took me to make all of my previous pairs, I am amazed at myself to be this far along!

Stash Report Week 47, 2012

If you are looking for the Modern Designs for Classic Quilts book giveaway, that is in this post.
There is still time to enter!

This week, I started cutting the fabric for my 6th and final Scrap Squad. I also started the strip piecing and sub cutting and pressing. I'd like to get this one done fairly quickly! Here is one set of sub units waiting to be stitched together.

I was asked a week ago to make another wall hanging for a co-worker so I needed a bit of fabric. I have to pick up some ink cartridges to print out another picture and then I can assemble the quilt and get it to my co-worker. It was Small Business Saturday so I went to my local quilt shop, Bella Quilts, and picked up a other things since they were offering a discount.

And since I was close to a yarn shop that was also having a SBS discount, I stopped there as well. Since I started knitting another pair of socks on Thanksgiving, I was reminded of how much I like knitting and I want to keep at it. My sock is looking pretty fantastic, by the way! I couldn't put it down on Friday and the sock is just over 6" long now.

And since I was knitting so much on Friday, I didn't get around to starting the Easy Street mystery yet so there will be more fabric busted when I get to that. :)

Fabric added this week: 3.50
Fabric added YTD: 122.02

Fabric used this week: 5.69
Fabric used YTD: 134.18

Trying to find a puppy picture that I haven't shared yet. I need to take more of them!
