Design Wall Monday, 8/22

Today, I am going to show off my new design wall! My cousin and aunt helped me out with setting it up. The original plans that I had didn't work out as expected, but the design wall is still on the actual wall so that is good.

Friday after work, I stopped at Joann's and Home Depot for my supplies. Unfortunately, my tiny little car wouldn't fit the pieces of the foam insulation board and my neighbor wasn't in the area so I had to make due - boards cut in half and then tied to the top of my tiny little car. *sigh*

Before my family got here, I trimmed up the pieces and taped them into pairs. Once we got back from dinner and ice cream, Meghan and I set to work taping the pairs into 1 big piece and wrapping it with batting.

Max was afraid of the squeaking of the boards until I was sitting on it.

Once we were done playing, we added loops to the back of the board with hot glue gun and a bit more duct tape...

... and then hung the design wall onto the actual wall with command hooks. I then threw up my Midget blocks since I had them handy.

So far, things are working well. The design wall is still hanging! I'm excited to get some new blocks made and up on the wall to see how it works. :)

Nice work on the design wall. My wall was an adventure also but I did mine completely on my own. My blessing was I had a suburban so bringing home the foam board was easy! I ended up nailing the boards into the wall and it has not fallen down either! Love mine!!

Nice design wall and I am doing mini blocks myself. I am so hooked on them not sure I can do the bigger blocks I have planned for the next couple of quilts!!

love the blocks pictured!

Lovely - and oh, so nice to have again. I've had to dismantle mine, thinking it would only be a few weeks, but looks like it'll be longer, shuckie-darn!

Your design wall looks great! It will be so nice to have all that space to lay out your blocks. And good for you for getting help - I did mine alone and it was an adventure!

It looks great! There is something so very pleasing about a fresh design wall just waiting for some quilt blocks! Happy stitching!

Looks great! Bummer that you had to cut it up though. I like how you put the loops on the back.

Oh I love it! I think I'm going to make this a project for my husband to help me with. I could use a design wall. Looks awesome and great job! What did you use to make the loops?

I love that you'll stop mid-project to play! That happens at my house too with my dog. She wasn't so crazy about my recent spray painting though. Yay to the progress on your studio!
