New to me

I've never done a mystery, but I am almost totally committed to doing the Orca Bay mystery that Bonnie Hunter started yesterday. Maybe a little more than almost totally! I just love the color combination in this mystery.

Bonnie likes to use the Easy Angle and Companion Angle rulers. I have had the Easy Angle for a while thinking that I would do another of her mysteries, but I never got around to it. Step #1 on Orca Bay uses the Companion Angle so I stopped at Joann's and picked one up. I wasn't sure it would be easier, but I figured it was worth a shot to give it a try.

Last night, after I wrapped up on my quilting for the night, I made a test quarter square triangle.

I didn't turn on the iron because I only wanted to make one QST, but look how cute it is with just finger pressing!

And it's the right size without having to do any trimming.

This definitely pushes me closer to committed to doing the mystery. I won't be able to start it anytime soon, but I think that I can pull the fabrics when I get the urge. I just have too much other sewing and quilting that has approaching deadlines.

The pups say as long as they can supervise from their bed!

I wasn't going to do this one BUT when the directions were posted, I figured why not, if I don't do the whole thing i can always use the tri/sqs in something else. I am not pulling fabric ahead of time. will be interesting to see what I end up with- lol

I am watching this mystery closely! Kristie has had great success with Bonnie's mysteries! I get a big kick out of reading the quiltville message boards during her mysteries. Great tips for sure, but every once in awhile a poster will say or ask the wrong thing and "BAM" The photo board is very inspiring too..alot of beautiful work!

Never done a Quiltville Mystery? You just don't know what you've been missing. Adorable little quarter square triangle, now just 223 left to go? Cut, sew, press repeat...... You can do it!

Isn't that ruler great?

Oh Jill, Jill, Jill. Participating in a Bonnie mystery will NOT leave you disappointed. Exhausted maybe, but not disappointed! Her mysteries grow on you.

I am always intrigued by hers, but when step 1 had 224 pieces, I was completely out! Now I look forward to seeing what others make from it!

I always enjoy her mysteries but like I mentioned to you yesterday, I'm not doing this one. I'm saving the directions and may start it later but I just have too much holiday sewing going on right now. Her mysteries do have a ton of pieces but they are so worth it in the end, they are beautiful

I love Bonnie's mysteries. I love these rulers too. I got friendly with these rulers when I did Amy's BOM last year. I've used them ever since. I'm not sure if I'll do this mystery or not. I too have too many things to finish and work on. I want to get some flimsies finished up before I start something big. Happy Thanksgiving and pet the pups for me...

P.S. come enter my giveaway when you get a chance, you won't be disappointed!

I just went and picked up that ruler today too! I thought it would just be easier than the fooling around I did the other day, and it didn't work out right!! So, with my new 'toy' and the scraps I have collected, I will make them and enjoy the process!!

I am glad you are doing this mystery too!!! What else can you do in the winter, but play with fabric - and wounde what it will look like the end!!!!
