May Challenge

After cleaning up the spare bedroom and looking at all of the projects and kits that I have, I decided that I need to kick my sewing up a notch. I have to make a little more of an effort to start finishing some things and just overall working on projects.

I have seen a couple of blogs talking about a One Hour a Day quilt project and I decided that it sounded like a good plan for me to try. I have adapted it a little bit.

In May, I am going to sew or do something quilt related for at least one hour a day. I am going to attempt to do this everyday, but I am also going to catch up on previous days if I can't get to it for any reason. I will not carry hours over to future days though.

So far, I didn't sew on the first or second, but I caught up on the 3rd and 4th. On the 3rd, I worked on the binding on the spools quilt while I was at my sister's house. I probably sewed for about an hour and a half. On Sunday the 4th, I was at Maddy's and sewed for about 4 hours so I was all caught up. Yesterday, I worked on the binding while I was at the Guild meeting and then I made pillowcases when I got home. So far, I am doing pretty good!

I am going to call this my One Hour a Day challenge (OHAD) and I will keep everyone updated on how this is working out for me. Hopefully, this will be something that I will keep up with and I will be able to knock some things off of my To Do list by the end of May. And I hope to have at least my March, April and May UFO challenge projects finished! Since it is still early in the month, I am feeling very optimistic that this could happen! :)

I am doing this as well as a couple of friends. We are not part of Judy's group but thought it would be a great way to at least attempt to get caught up and stay ahead! Good luck!!

That's a great idea. I find an hour just so hard to find for anything sometimes with the kids and all.

GOODLUCK!!!

I'm going for 5 hours a week! So far I put in 10 hours on Friday and 3 hours on Sun. morning. Maybe we should count our May sewing hours and see who gets the most? Just a mini challenge inside our UFO challenge.

Good idea Jill ,we all know the trick is not to start any new projects ,but who can resist when something new catches our eye .

Good luck getting those projects done. Sounds like you are having great success... keep up with the 1 hour a day! Look forward to seeing the pictures of everything you get done. I am going to start out smaller and shoot for 15 minutes a day and see how it goes.

That is such a good idea--one of my bee mates who lives in NJ now has declared May to be her month of quilting--must be something about springtime that makes everyone feel motivated!

Good idea - but I know I'd never attain this goal. I'll try to hit 15 minutes per day.
