Design Wall Monday, 9/20

I was hoping for a bit more progress today, but I got a bit hung up. Unfortunately. :(

I was working on the Bento Box blocks and got them sewn into pairs. I still need to press them, but I was happy to get this far on them.

Then, I started to work on the black and white blocks for my neighbor's quilt. I ran into trouble. :(

Once I got a couple of blocks sewn together, I realized that there were a couple of blocks with 1 side too short. I went through all of the black blocks and found that 39 of the 51 that I need were the same size. I'm guessing that the ruler moved when I was cutting, but not that many times. UGH!!

I still have to go through the white blocks, but my head was starting to spin and I had to give up for the night.

Maxie tried to help me a little bit today!

I had this happen with a hexagon quilt I made. I used the triangle ruler, lined it up at the bottom, cut the triangle, and then slid the ruler to the right, lined it up again, and cut...but I got two triangles (the upside down one and the one I cut). Turned out that most of the upside down ones turned out too small. So now I turn the ruler up and down and cut one line at a time....maybe that is what happened to you also? Anyhow, love the dog!!

Sewing Maxie~ I love it! :-) Sorry about your blocks.. can you trim the bigger ones down to the size of the smaller ones?

Oh, I'm sorry about that. Don't you just hate it when something like this happens? I don't know that I have any suggestions to help but I'll think on it. I'm going to have to do one of the Bento Box quilts. I like it everytime I see it. Sweet Maxie, so cute. Tomorrow will be better....

What a bummer. Sometimes there is nothing better than to walk away and let a project simmer for a while. Sometimes solutions pop up in their own good time. The bento blocks look great though!

Thank goodness for Maxie's help! It's so frustrating when a cutting mishap occurs. I love the Bento blocks!!

JILL SO SORRY BUT WALKING AWAY SOMETIMES IS THE BEST TO CLEAR THE HEAD. TOMORROW IS ANOTHER DAY AND SOMETIMES THE ANSWER WILL HIT YOU RIGHT IN THE FACE. I HAVE DONE THE SAME THING. I HAVE HAD TO CUT SOME BLOCKS DOWN TO FIT OTHERS BECAUSE SOMETIMES THAT RULLER JUST DOESNT UNDERSTAND WHICH SIZE I AM CUTTING. I'M GLAD YOU HAVE SOMEONE TO HELP. YOU'RE PUPS ARE SOOO CUTE.
