Hi, everyone! Thanks for reading my blog. I finally broke down and started this after thinking about it for a while. And I liked the idea of being in a 'quilting community' to get other ideas and tips and to be among other quilters!
I live in Fairfield, Ohio with my 2 little dogs, Max and Maisy. They are red, short-haired dachsunds and are 5 1/2 years old. I have had them for just about 5 years now. We had a great routine before I started quilting - after dinner, we would all sit in the recliner under a blanket while I watched TV and crocheted or cross-stitched. Now, they can sit on the bed while I quilt, but they constantly watch me longing for my lap! And Max will sometimes jump up in my chair so that he can be against my back. It's OK when I am constantly sewing, but he tends to do it when I am constantly getting up to press.
So, about my quilting. I have made a Log Cabin quilt top. This was my first class that I took and I learned a lot about techniques and squaring up. My next top was a Spools. I missed a lot of my points during assembly of the rows, but learned a lot about the half square triangles and I like the overall look of this top. And the last top that I finished was a Storm at Sea. I am very proud of this top because I took my time in assembly and most of my points meet and I don't think that I cut off any of them. If I can figure out how to insert pictures, I will post one of the Storm at Sea.
I have been taking classes at my local quilt shop and have been learning a lot and really have fun. And I have been buying a bunch of fabric for new projects and coming up with lists of what to make for people for gifts and things to make for myself. But there are only so many quilts that a single person can have!
The other thing about me is that I am attending Weight Watchers and have lost 18 pounds in a little under 2 months. It has been tough at times, but clothes are fitting better and that makes me really happy! I think that once I reach 20 pounds, I should do a little something for myself, but I am not sure what yet.
Well, today was supposed to be my day to spend at the machine and it is already noon and I am still in my PJ's. But I cleaned out my refigerator and started organizing the kitchen a little. I had to get rid of some old boxes of food and make room for the fresh food and the better food choices that I need to continue with the weight loss.
I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday and weekend!

Hello and Welcome...Glad you started your blog. Just remember quilts don't have to be perfect, but I think we are our own worst critic. That is very good that you have lost your weight, trust me I need to loose some too. Kristie Oh, by the way, I have a mini red dachsund named Agnus.Edited by CountryQuilter on Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 01:04 PM

I need to get back to weight watchers myself. I've let it go on for far too long now. I can't wait to see your quilts!! I've been quilting since 1999 and I still learn loads each time I make a new quilt.

Hey Jill! Thanks for sending me your blog link. Your storm at sea pics are amazing! It looks like you did beautiful wok. Yay you! Yay you for WW too. That is fabulous and you MUST do something for 20 lbs. :-) I have lost a bit in the last year, what with all the yoga I do, but I need to get back to making a more serious effort at it. Hope your weekend was great too! Miss you! Mar Leave a Comment
