Design Wall Monday, 11/15

I got quite a bit done on Sunday after going through my scraps and cutting the strip sets for the Radiant Star quilt.

I prepped my binders for the Super Secret Quilt and the Midget Mania blocks.

Then, I quilted the Bento Box quilt and attached the binding all by machine. I did bury the threads and hand stitched a label on. I am going to delivery it to a co-worker today.

I also made my first Midget Block - block #1, but I think that it is a little big. I thought that they were supposed to finish at 4" and this one is larger than that. I think that I am going to re-make the block using regular quilting methods and not paper piecing. As nice as the points are with the paper piecing, I don't think that grid ended up at the right size. I will have to look into it a little more.

Edited to add - The blocks should finish at 4.5" so I am OK with this blocks. I think that I will need to use the much thinner paper piecing paper to print out the paper pieced blocks. I had some issues with getting the paper off of this one when I was done sewing it.

My co-worker has a dog, too, and I thought that she would get a kick out of him sniffing the quilt for the smells from my dogs. They approved of the quilt and enjoyed rolling around on it a little.

I love bento boxes. And yes, dogs make everything better. Did you know that peopel who have dogs have 3 times less probablyity of having a heart attack, and if you do, 7 times the probability of surviving it??

Love the Bento Box quilt.

If you use a smaller stitch length that will help with paper removal. Also wetting the paper at the seam should work if you are still having problems.

Love and hugs Gina xxx

l love the accuracy of paper piecing. Give it a try again. It's not fun to remove the paper but it is easier with a smaller stitch length. To me the accuracy is well worth it.

I love that Bento Box quilt--after I did one that didn't mix them up I saw one like yours and now I want to try it. Yours has some really nice mixtures of different fabrics and the colors blend so well.

That bento box turned out very nice. I like the brown and blue combo--they match the pups! I think they think you should keep the quilt for yourself ;-D

Great projects. Good that you started the midgit blocks. I've been saving the patterns but haven't made a block yet.

Love the Bento Box. I've been sorting fabric to do one with browns and creams. Yours gives me an idea how that will look.

JILL YOU NEVER HAVE A DULL QUILT. I LOVE THIS ONE A LOT. I REALLY CANT WAIT TO MAKE ONE OF MY OWN USING THE FABRICS I TOLD YOU ABOUT. A LIGHTER PAPER AND SMALLER STICHES MIGHT HELP WITH THE PAPER PIECING...AT LEAST THAT IS WHAT I HAVE HEARD AT THE LQS...WOULDNT YOU JUST LOVE TO BE AT YOUR CO-WORKERS HOUSE WHEN HER DOG(S) SMELL YOUR DOGS JUST TO SEE HOW IT (THEY) REACT...HEY IF YOUR CO-WORKER DOESNT LIKE THE QUILT, I KNOW SOMEONE THAT WILL :D....LOL..HAPPY QUILTING..CANT WAIT TO SEE WHAT YOU MAKE NEXT.. MY HATS OFF TO YOU I WOULDNT EVEN TRY TO MAKE THAT SMALL OF BLOCKS.....
