I sort of fell off the wagon this week. :( I have some fabric added to report, but the additions haven't all come in yet.
As most of you know, I live in a condo and have some great neighbors! Wendall, the nice older gentleman who lives 2 doors down, takes morning and evening constitutionals and brought me a plate of brownies on Thursday night!
The couple who live right next to have been great in helping out with things that I never knew about. Well, really it's the guy who has been doing things, but if she hadn't bought the condo, he wouldn't be there! lol He has sprayed yearly for bugs, treated for bees that nested under our front walks, installed a high end sump pump after we were flooded 2 years ago, and most recently (and most importantly) fixed my laptop! Even before the laptop, I have been thinking about making each of them a quilt, but I really didn't know what to do until I was able to see their condo and how they decorated.
On Wednesday, I was perusing Fabric Shack's sale fabrics online and saw a group of black and white fabric and the corresponding red and white. I thought about it and figured that I could add a gray or two and have a nice manly quilt that would represent several professional and college teams around here - red, gray and black. I ordered the fabric Thursday and received it Saturday! Short of 2 reds. :(
When I was at Lambikin's for my class and they mentioned a fabric sale, I decided to run through and see if there were any reds that would work. SCORE!! I found 2 baseballs fabrics that would work with all but 1 of my order. In this picture, the top red on the right will not be used in the quilt because the color just isn't right. I was planning on just using one of the grays, but the dark one looks so nice with the blacks that I plan on using that one, too. I think that I need to add another red or a light/white. I am taking some options with me today along with books for when I sew with my girlzzz, Barb and KT.
On a side note, I finished the SIS quilt top and I will be assembling/piecing the back today! The borders and part of the binding were cut this week so at least I have something to bust!
I did end up 1 strip short of the border fabric for the binding. Some shops just don't 'give' a little when they cut fabric and this one had to be evened up more than usual. I was not too happy and found it online elsewhere and got a couple of yards. I really like the green and the paisleys are just too cute!

I really like this quilt. I am inspired to make one myself!
love your fabrics, for me that is the hardest part! If it was not for my local quilt guy, I'd be in trouble!! Most recent post talks about that!!
Your new quilt top is beautiful and it is a good shade for Maisy!!!
Oh, what a kind neighbor-environment you have!!! I have lived in the country for most of my life, and I get together with neighbors very little just because they are quilt few-n-far between. How excellent of you to make a quilt in appreciation!
You SIS quilt is lovely; I'm a big green fan, so it especially is LOVELY to me! ;0)
Your negative numbers will be gone in no time once you tackle that new quilt!
DANG THOSE SALES!!!! I think the reds, blacks and greys will look great together. Your SIS turned out awesome! Once you get it finished, just send it on over to me!
I really like this quilt and have added it to my "want to make" list.....that list is very long.
Your quilt is very pretty and I love all the greens.
Of course Maisy loves it. She's a redhead and should always wear green! The quilt is gorgeous! Good job!
Your SIS quilt is awesome, and I LOVE the colors you will be using in the neighbor's quilt. I can't wait to see that one assembled and together.
Have a FUN Sunday, my friend!
love ya!

SIS is awesome - wonder if my Maggie will come test mine out when it is done? can't wait to see how you quilt this one ... I am pondering the possibilities!
The quilt top looks awesome! So good that it almost overwhelms the stash report :)
