I have gotten no sewing done this week for a variety of reasons. I am ready to get to my machine this evening and definitely tomorrow for the Friday Night Sew In.
Monday night, I was in charge of the Guild program which was a Guild Shop Hop. We had 8 quilt shops from the area come to our meeting and set up tables and displays to sell their wares. Other than some members taking way too long at the podium during Show and Tell, I think the night was a success. All of the shops were very happy with how the night went.
When I got home, my new iPod Touch was waiting for me and I spent a little too long setting it up and downloading a new iOS and putting all of the songs and books from my laptop onto it. I have been enjoying how easy it is to use, but there has been some getting used to it, too.
Tuesday, it was early to bed after staying up too late on Monday. I think I spent too much time online that night, too.
Last night, I had a Holiday dinner with my newest quilt guild, the Cincinnati Modern Quilt Guild. Of course, when I left work, I just had to stop at JoAnn's for some of the fleece that is on sale this week. My stash report is going to take a hit, but I am hoping to get it all used up in the next couple of weeks. It will all be used in Christmas gifts. The dinner was nice and relaxing and it was great to get to know a few more of the guild members a little better!
I have also been picking up Christmas gifts here and there and I think that I am just about ready to get some shipped out. I will have to worry about those early next week. I need to take a mental inventory to see what else needs to be done or picked up.
Today, a new adventure starts at the office. A few weeks ago, one of my co-workers took a new position in the company and I got a little anxious about the fact that I could be very pigeon holed in my job. This feeling translated into several discussions with my boss and her boss about different options that they will open up for me which will start with me helping in the hiring of the replacement for my co-worker. The long and the short of it is that this replacement will be taking over some easier parts of my job to free up my time for projects and for different job duties. We hope that this will give my job a bit more variety to help keep me from getting bored with the monotony of fixed assets.
This Saturday, the Cincinnati Modern Quilt Guild is having a mini-sew day at my library up the street and I have to decide what I am going to take. I would love to be able to have the witches ready to press and satin stitch along the edges, but in order to do that, I need to make some really good progress on my Granma's quilt before then. I may just end up taking the rest of Granma's quilt to finish. I lost my notes on the borders for the quilt so I have to try and glean what I was planning on from the fabric I bought and what the finished size should be. And I need to get the quilt done fast to get it to the quilter!
So this is what I have been up to. I haven't responded to emails this week and I am way behind on my blog reader. When it gets like this, it always makes me think that I need to re-visit my blog list and remove some from my list. As it is, I only comment regularly on about half of the blogs that I read, but part of this is because some of the blogs have their comments embedded in their post instead of having a pop up window or a second screen and I can't post on the embedded comments from work or my blackberry. I'm not going to make any changes right now, but they may be coming after the holidays.
Maisy thinks that everything will look much brighter after a nap!

I wondered where you have been!! Sounds like you have had a busy week! Here's hoping that you get in some good quality sewing time!
sounds like you have been very, very busy! Better busy than bored, I guess!
I know what you mean about cutting down on the blogs that I read. Just didn't know how to weed them down with out looking rude. I read a post one time from a guy who was upset that someone had dropped him. Is it OK to just unsubscribe and go on?
Love the dogs...and I wonder, how did you all get a Modern Quilt Guild? How long has it been running? We don't have on in LV and I've (stupidly) wondered if I could start one but I'm sure I don't fully understand what it would entail. Do you know anything on this? Or have the e-mail of the ring-leader who might be willing to answer some questions? Anyhow, good luck with all the projects!!!
Naps are always a good thing. Hope it all goes well at work with the new hire and new jobs for you.
Last night was fun.
I love the fact that your boss is open to giving you new projects/duties. In this day and age, it speaks highly of you and his/her confidence in you.
See ya Saturday! Thanks again for making me feel so welcome!
I'm with Maisy!
Well, I'll see you at the Sew-in and hope we both get a lot done.
Sounds like things are interesting at work. Isn't it funny that I don't even know what you do? It sounds like something with finance? Although you haven't had much sewing time this week, it sounds like you will make up for it on the weekend. A mini retreat sounds blissful. Enjoy!
Your dogs are sweet!
I wish I had more shopping done. I have to get stuff in the mail too. After I figure out what that stuff is and get it bought!
You've been really busy! I hope you get time to sew and get your Grandma's quilt to the quilter.
I'm off to check to see if my comments are embedded...!
Sounds like you've had a pretty busy week. I love what I have seen of your grandmother's quilt so far, and of the witches and am looking forward to seeing them finished.
I love her face! I hear you on the job stuff. I got a brand-spanking-new title this week, and it's been getting quite the work out! :)
You are one busy and productive gal! Sounds like you have a good plan for your job too.
Sounds like you have had a busy week! Glad you like your new Ipod! I bought Andrew a new Ipod Touch for Christmas, but I think he knows what it is. I hope he likes it!
