Tiny Tuesday Hiatus

The next 6 weeks are going to pretty busy with me. I have a vacation coming up and I have to clean the house up for my house sitter to come and sit in the house. And then there will be a Southern Invasion for the Cincinnati IQF show so I will have to keep the house cleaned up.

And customer quilts on top of all of that!

Tonight, I have to get a quilt prepped and on the frame so I can quilt it tomorrow and start hand stitching the binding on Thursday so I can mail it back. I want to get at least 1 more quilt quilted before vacation, but the house cleaning might make that impossible.

So in light of all of that and to try and retain my sanity, I am going to suspend the Tiny Tuesday posts for 6 weeks so that I won't feel bad about not having another one done.

Like tonight. No block. I spent all weekend quilting and binding 2 quilts that will be picked up tomorrow night.

Here is the second one finished. It is 78 by 92!

Tiny Tuesday - 2/26

I might be getting a little lazy on the Midget blocks. And by lazy, I only mean that I am not doing a lot of prep work that I should be doing to make the individual block making a little easier.

Here are the rest of the blocks that I have printed out.



Let me break them down for you... y-seams, applique, too much paper piecing to be done very quickly... Y seams and more applique. UGH!!

I need to do a bit of re-drawing some blocks in EQ to remove the y seams and to change up the applique to something that I want to work on.

Right now, I have a quilt that has a couple of spots to be fixed and then it needs to be quilted and bound in less than a week and my focus has been on that quilt. I will get back to the Midgets eventually.

Does anyone have a tiny block to show to inspire me?

Tiny Tuesday - 2/19

I seriously need to stop making these blocks where the designer has like 20 pieces meeting in the center join. Why does she do this? Does anyone know? It's not like assembling these paper pieced style gives the blocks even an iota of a chance to come out some what flat!

Block 61 is Royal Star 4's and I cut off the seam allowance at the center before I pressed the final seam.



I'm really not very pleased with how this block turned out, but it probably won't stand out with it's wonky center points when it is assembled with the rest of the blocks.

Tiny Tuesday - 2/5

I was thisclose to having another block done! I got my fabrics pulled for the next set of blocks and I planned on making a block tonight, but I was chatting with my cousin and his fiancee about a wedding quilt and I just didn't get to sewing.

But here are the fabrics for the next ten blocks. It's a start!



At least one will be re-drawn and another one will be substituted. I am not even going to bother attempting this block! lol

# 59 - Chrysanthemum - I combined a couple of pieces for this block because it made more sense.



And #60 - French 4's - I think this is also called churn dash. Not sure why the 'fancy' name. lol

Tiny Tuesday - 1/22

Another week, another block! Thank goodness!!

This week, I redrew the blcok #58 which was originally tiny little hexagons. Not my cup of tea!

Instead, I drew Peaceful Hours in EQ. The block came from Block Party by Marsha McCloskey.



And it was anything but peaceful! I don't know why I insist on re-drawing these blocks that will give me y seams or worse!

But here is my block.

Tiny Tuesday! 1/15

I finished a block! I was hoping to have had it done last night, but at least it is done on Tuesday for Tiny Tuesday!

Block # 57 of Midget Mania is Snowball Wreath. I knew that there was no way ever that I was going to attempt this many circles on a 4.5" block.



So I re-drew it in EQ and made it my own version! Same colors and idea, but straight lines!

Tiny Tuesday - 1/8

I was really hoping that I could get a block done for this week, but I spent most of my weekend devoted to Easy Street and then the last 2 nights were spent quilting. I actually finished quilting 2 quilts tonight, but I will have to get pictures of them tomorrow. Be patient. :)

Here is the last picture that I have of my stack of Midget blocks. It's from October. Note the patch on the ironing board cover that has since been re-covered. :)



I promise that between now and next Monday, I will DO a midget block.

Tiny Tuesday - 12/18

There has been so much excitement this week here what with the Dresden Plate quilt finish...

I have one more quilt to get quilted this week that was dropped off last night and I was going to try and make a Midget block on the new machine last night, but I ran out of time. Soon, I will get back to Midgets!

Tiny Tuesday - 12/11

I have been working diligently on blocks that are slightly larger than tiny. Although, I am working on them in quarters and cutting the quarters at 5", soooo technically.... Tiny! lol



I am hopeful that next week I will be back on with my Midget blocks! Until then, does anyone else have any tiny blocks to share? :)

Tiny Tuesday - 12/4

Another week and no block. This is the block that I should be working on.



I think that I am going to rework this one. Those circles are way to small for a 4.5" finished block!

Instead, I finished the giveaway gifts from my September giveaway. Just in time for Christmas, Debbie!

I am starting to struggle with all the things that are on my list and I am not sure that it will all get done by the deadlines. I will post more on that tomorrow, maybe.

Something has to give and this week it was the Midget block.

The next block on my list is one that was applique and embroidery. I absolutely draw the line at embroidery!

So I pulled out my copy of Marshe McCloskey's Block Party and picked a new block!



I picked the blue and white block on the left to make.

The block is called This and That. It is my 56th block! I drew the block up in EQ and printed it as a foundation pieced block.

Block 54 - Maple leaf. The only thing paper pieced in this block are the 4 stems.

Tiny Tuesday - 11/6

I hope that everyone reading had a chance to get out and vote today. And that is all that I am going to say about that.

I was soooo productive last weekend! I got a block made AND pulled fabrics for the rest of the set of blocks that I am working on. I also drew up 2 replacement blocks and pulled fabrics for those blocks as well.

See? Super productive!

Block #53 - Winged Square - A paper pieced block. And no mistakes on this one. Woo hoo! Well, maybe some points are just a tad off, but it is good enough for me! :)



And here is the proof that I pulled fabrics. I also got the pieces cut for 54, but time is tight tonight so I am not going to push it to start working on it. I have 2 more posts to write for tomorrow.

I tried to get a block done tonight. Honest, I did! But the next few blocks are a tad hellacious and I didn't plan well enough.

Tiny Tuesday - 10/23

I got 2 blocks done while I was retreating!

Block 51 - Friendship... I messed this one up, but I didn't realize it until I had one side sewn onto the middle section. I decided to leave it because I did both sides that way and I think it makes the block look like an owl or a robot. It's my block, right? I'm going with it! lol



Block 52 - Whirling Pinwheel.. I was so tired of pinning by the time I got to this block that I didn't pin and my center sure shows. But that is what gives it character! Meh... it's close enough!



And did you Midget lovers catch that more Midget blocks are going up weekly? Check this post out! Anyone who wants to join in the Midget fun, blocks 1-50 have been retired and 51-100 will be retired soon so go and save them to your computer!

Tiny Tuesday - 10/9

Another missed week for me. I tried to catch up on my quilting and everything else was a bust, too. sigh.

I did pull fabrics for the block last week and was trying to get to it, but I just haven't made the time to stitch anything other than backings. You can see that here on the right.



Oh well, it will happen soon enough.

Well, another week without a BOM block or a Midget block made. Sigh....

At least I did print the patterns for the next 10 blocks. There will be at least 2 that will not be made in lieu of a substitute block.


Next week, I will try to make 2 blocks to catch up.
