On the Needles - 10/18

No change on my needles...

101_2255

Pattern is Hermione's Everyday Sock
Yarn is Heritage Silk Paints

But I ordered new needles for my sweaters and just had to grab up one of Judy's yarns!

101_2269

The yarn is super soft and I can't wait to use it!

On the Needles - 10/4

Yesterday during lunch, I finished my first sock and started the second one! Woot!

101_2233

I love this you tube video for closing the toe with the Kitchener stitch!

And here is the start of the second sock!

On the Needles - 9/27

Here was where I was 2 weeks ago with my Hermione's Everyday Socks.

And here is where I am now.

I'm probably a little more than halfway done with the foot. Woo hoo!!

On the Needles - 8/30

This week, I finished the second sock of the Zora pair with the Madelintosh sock in Hickory.

101_2103

And I still love the video that I found for the Kitchener stitch! This time, I only had to watch the video one time and I was almost done with my toe by the time the video was over. Look at how great this looks! I am pretty impressed with it!

101_2104

I just have to sew in the ends on both socks.

Wednesday night, I picked out the next pattern and yarn to use and I tried to wind up the balls. I ended up with a huge knotted mess and it took until last night to get it all untangled and the balls wound.

Lula was very interested in the ball winder.

101_2100

I also started on the next pair. I have 4 rows of ribbing done, but I can't wait to work on this during lunch today!

101_2101

The yarn is Heritage Silk Paints in Vino - shades of red to burgundy. Very lush and I love how it feels already!

101_2102

The pattern is Hermione's Everyday Socks and since the pattern calls for knitting on circs and I have them in the right size, that is what I am doing.

Happy knitting!

On the Needles - 7/5

I probably should have worked on these a little yesterday. I have done a few more rounds since my last pictures.

On the Needles - 6/21

Progress made! I got the heel made and turned and started on the decreases!

101_1927

101_1928

I love how these are looking, but I think that they are going to be a tad too small for me to wear. sigh...

On the Needles - 6/7

During the guild meeting this week, I finished what might be the last set of stitches on the leg. I need to look at the pattern and the first sock to make sure, but I am pretty sure that I am ready to start the heel!

On the Needles - 5/3

I have made a little progress on my second sock.

Lula is unimpressed.

On The Needles - 4/26

Not too much progress on the second sock, but I got the first cable done. I left my stitch markers in Florida so the first few rows of the pattern were a little difficult, but I made it through.

101_1701

The pattern is Zora and is free on Ravelry. The yarn is Madelinetosh in Hickory.

This will be nice to work on during lunch at the office. Hopefully I can show a little more progress next week.

I'm linking up to Judy's post here.

On The Needles - 4/19

I am still working on my second Zora sock, but I have finished the cuff!

101_1673

I actually did one extra row by mistake, but I am leaving it since no one will be able to tell.

The yarn is Madelinetosh in Hickory. And I know that if I ever make this pattern again, I will use a larger size needle so that the socks are not pulled so tight on my foot. :)

I haven't done much on this second sock because I have been spending my evenings working on the basement to get things cleaned out and ready for the Avante delivery and set up. I'm making progress!

On the Needles - 4/12

I finished my first Zora sock this week! At first, I over shot the foot and had to rip back and then I ripped back too far.

But I got it fixed and got the foot finished and then the toe closed. The sock is just a tad too tight and if I make this pattern again, I will have to go up a size in the needles.

101_1454

But the sock is finished!

101_1455

And the next one is started.

On the Needles - 4/5

I am really enjoying knitting this sock! And I am so close to being finished!

The pattern is Zora and I found it on Ravelry.

101_1443

The yarn is Madelinetosh Sock in Hickory.

101_1445

I can't wait to try it on and see how it fits! Very soon!!

And I still haven't ordered my yarn for the Infinity Cardigan. I also haven't loaded another quilt onto the frame so that is all ok. :)

Maybe this weekend....

Check out Judy's blog to see what others are knitting on!

On the Needles - 3/22

And Happy Birthday to me!! :)

This week, I am in Florida with my parents. I brought the pups and my granma and we have been relaxing all week. My neighbor Timmy is having a Stay-cation at my place and making sure nothing happens on the home front. I hear stories of some outrageous parties, but I know he is just sitting on the couch and watching TV. lol

There are 6 dogs in the house - my three reds and my parents have 1 black and 2 white and black doxies.

101_1433

They are not cooperating on the picture front.

But they are all being very conducive to my knitting!

I have finished a washcloth.

101_1434

I finished the purple socks and sewed the ends in as well. The yarn is Stroll by Knit Picks.

101_1437
101_1438

And I started a pair of socks using a chart and cables so that I can practice for the Infinity Cardigan.

101_1435

The yarn is Madelinetosh sock and the color is Hickory. I love how the yarn is knitting! I did forget to wind the balls so I had to wind my own. I started these on Tuesday night! The pattern is Zora by Regina Satta.

101_1436

See what others are doing at Judy's blog!

And here is Daphne who can't be bothered to get her picture with the other dogs.

On The Needles - 3/8

I finally got to the toe decreases on my second sock and I have made a little more progress since getting there. You can see in the closer view that the stitches are just starting to cut in towards the center of the foot. Woo hoo!! The yarn is Knit Picks Stroll sock yarn.

101_1395

101_1396

I have been trying to decide on the pattern and yarn for the next pair of socks. As I mentioned last week, I want to try a patterned sock this time and I want to make cables and use a chart. I picked out the pink and brown yarn to use, but then I realized that the cables won't show up as well so I think that I am going to go with the brown to the left. It is Madelinetosh in Hickory and it will be a new experience for me to use this yarn as well. I am really branching out!

101_1397

The yarn to the right is Palette by Knit Picks and it will be the yarn that I will use for the Infinity Cardigan. I remembered that I bought a kit from Knit Picks and I checked to see what the yarn was last night. I am going to use this yarn to knit a swatch to make sure of the size needles that I need for the cardigan. I am ready to start it without even trying the cabled socks!

And I have my eBook that I won. Here is a picture of the cardigan from the book. The book is a Knit Picks publication. I really love this sweater!!

I also should mention that when I was pulling out the kit, I was a little shocked to find another bag of sock yarn. I really need to get knitting!

On the Needles - 3/1

I was knitting diligently on my second sock in Stroll from Knit Picks when I got a rush quilting job in so I had to put the knitting away for a while.

I got a little more the foot done.

 101_1363

I am excited to finish this sock so that I can start on the next pair. I have downloaded and printed off 4 different patterns from the Ravelry site so that I can try my hand at cables and working with a chart.

Last week, Knit Picks announced their 2013 Spring Collection on their blog. They called it First Light and the patterns are available individually or as the collection. I absolutely fell in love with the Infinity Cardigan that can be seen here.

I went looking on Ravelry to see what I could find and I signed up for the Knit Along because I am going to make this sweater! There was a chance to enter for a copy of the collection and I entered it and I got an email this afternoon that I won!! I am so stoked!! I actually screamed out loud when I realized that I had won!

I think this is just a sign that I need to work on the next pair of socks in order to master the cabling and chart reading so I can start on this sweater as soon as I get the yarn. And my only real decision is to pick a color for the yarn!

Stash Report Weeks 6 - 8, 2013

It has been a few weeks since I posted a report because I have had nothing to post. I still don't, but I thought that it might give me some incentive to get the rest of the fabric cut for Easy Street this week.

Friday night, I got Lynn's Scrappy Trip Along on the frame and started quilting it.

101_1354

Loading the quilt was fine, but I was having some thread issues - lots of breakage. And then, I realized that my frame is not conducive to doing this kind of detail quilting.

Photo: Ripping out some stitching that I'm not thrilled with. I'm calling the quilting practice and the next attempt will be much better! #darlingjillquilts #ohcraft #dachshund head included!

I am now ripping out the stitches so that I can re-load the quilt and try it again.

I figured that since I missed the On The Needles post on Friday that I will link to that, too. I am making great progress on my second sock. Past the heel and moving along on the foot. I have found a couple of cable patterned socks that I downloaded to try for my next pair. If that goes well, I think that I am going to move onto the Infinity Cardigan.

On the Needles - 2/8

I got in some great knitting time this week and last week and I am just about done with the leg of my second sock on this purple yarn. It is Stroll by Knit Picks yarn and it is lovely!

101_1335

The striping is matching up pretty well between the 2 socks! I need to put them down until I get a couple of quilts quilted this weekend.

I am already starting to think about what yarn to use for my next pair. :)

And I am still working on the red and orange ruffle scarf, but it is downstairs and I haven't made much progress on it.

Max would be happy if I was working on that scarf downstairs because it would mean that I could hold him while I knit and he wouldn't have to hoard toys and fend Lula off.

On the Needles - 1/25

I got a bit of stitching done this week as I was watching a movie and some TV earlier in the week. The yarn is a purple varigated Stroll from Knit Picks.

101_1285

The starting point was not right on the same spot, but I think that I also got myself turned around when I joined the cast on stitches, but the striping is still turning out pretty well.

101_1286

See what is on other needles at Judy's blog.

Lula spent part of the night this evening silently nagging me for something. I am not sure if she wanted to cuddle or just get on the bed to sleep by herself but she ended up settling for the latter.

Photo: Silent nagging is the worst! She is just in the way every time I move.... Sigh

On the Needles - 1/18

I got my first purple sock finished! I did the kitchener stitch to close the toe and sewed the end in. I still need to sew the end in for the start, but I will get to that when I finish the next sock.

101_1255

I finally found a great video to show how to do the stitch and my stitches end up looking like they should!

And I started the next sock and got just about the right spot for the colors to match up. I am still working on the cuff.

101_1254

I finished the ruffle scarf and I didn't like how short it was so I ripped it out and started again. I think I have figured this out and it is working better.

101_1257

Max just had to try it out. And he is a little blurry because he wouldn't stay still long enough. lol
