Week Update

I can't believe that I haven't posted all week. Things are getting cold in Southern Ohio and I think that I am settling into hibernation mode and I need to snap out of that.

In this past week, I have knitted a little. I am a about 2/3 of the way through the leg.

101_2358

I've been cross stitching. I started the snowman last weekend and was here on Sunday morning.

101_2343

And this is where it is now.

101_2348

I also got the fabric for the 2 samplers from The Frosted Pumpkin.

101_2345

101_2347

I also finished the binding on Easy Street. Maisy helped.

101_2344

Finally, I upgraded to an iPhone. I am missing the Droid. The iPhone and I are still bonding. Maybe it will happen. There is no going back now.

101_2357

And not to leave the other pups out, here are Maxie and Lula. :)

101_2356

And now, I need to go and finish the quilt on the frame and get the next one ready to go.

On the Needles - 10/18

No change on my needles...

101_2255

Pattern is Hermione's Everyday Sock
Yarn is Heritage Silk Paints

But I ordered new needles for my sweaters and just had to grab up one of Judy's yarns!

101_2269

The yarn is super soft and I can't wait to use it!

On the Needles - 10/11

I have been doing some knitting on my second sock and a bit of swatching this week!

Here is the progress on my second sock. I have the cuff finished and I have done two of the repeats of the pattern.

101_2255

Pattern is Hermione's Everyday Sock
Yarn is Heritage Silk Paints

I started swatching for the Dianthe cardigan that is in the Capra Collection by Knit Picks. I bought Capra in the same gray as the pattern. I think that I am going to like working with this yarn!

101_2251

I decided to swatch for the Infinity Cardigan as well. I may have jumped the gun and ordered the needles thinking that I had the right size, but they may not work as I am just a tad under the 4 inches required for the swatch and I have 4 extra stitches on the needles. This yarn is Knit Picks Palette.

101_2233

I love this you tube video for closing the toe with the Kitchener stitch!

And here is the start of the second sock!

And here is where I am now.

On the Needles - 9/13

Progress! I got the heel turned, picked up flap stitches and am working on the gusset.

The pattern is Hermione's Everyday Socks and the yarn is Heritage Silk Paints from my stash.

I'm still getting used to knitting with the instep stitches split between the 2 needles, but it seems to be working ok. Without slipping the first stitches on the heel flap, the side stitches were a bitch to pick up, but I managed. It just took me 2 lunch breaks to get it done.

I'm linking up at Judy's blog.

On the Needles - 9/6

This week, I sewed the ends of the Zora socks into the sock. I think they are still a bit small, but I will probably try to wear them once and see how they feel.

101_2132

The yarn is Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in Hickory.

The pattern is Zora by Regina Satta on Ravelry.

And I have continued to work on the Hermione's Everyday Sock. The yarn is Heritage Silk Paints in Vino and it is lovely to knit.

On the Needles - 8/30

This week, I finished the second sock of the Zora pair with the Madelintosh sock in Hickory.

101_2103

And I still love the video that I found for the Kitchener stitch! This time, I only had to watch the video one time and I was almost done with my toe by the time the video was over. Look at how great this looks! I am pretty impressed with it!

101_2104

I just have to sew in the ends on both socks.

Wednesday night, I picked out the next pattern and yarn to use and I tried to wind up the balls. I ended up with a huge knotted mess and it took until last night to get it all untangled and the balls wound.

Lula was very interested in the ball winder.

101_2100

I also started on the next pair. I have 4 rows of ribbing done, but I can't wait to work on this during lunch today!

101_2101

The yarn is Heritage Silk Paints in Vino - shades of red to burgundy. Very lush and I love how it feels already!

101_2102

The pattern is Hermione's Everyday Socks and since the pattern calls for knitting on circs and I have them in the right size, that is what I am doing.

Happy knitting!

On the Needles - 5/31

After being stalled for a few weeks on my second sock, I got to knit quite a bit last weekend.

Monday it was nice enough outside that Regina and I sat outside doing hand work - I knit socks and she sewed binding.

I almost got the leg done!

101_1865

The yarn is Madelinetosh Tosh Sock in Hickory. The second sock is just a tad darker. sigh And the color in the first picture is the truer color.

The pattern is Zora by Regina Satta on Ravelry.

Monthly Accomplishments - April 2013

I have a feeling that this month is pretty bad. I know I did a lot of cleaning and I hosted the Southern Invasion, but I know that I didn't get a lot of sewing or quilting done.
  1. Got my business taxes done. What a relief!
  2. Over knit on the foot of my first Zora sock, ripped out and re-knit and then finished the sock.
  3. Quilted pink and green baby quilt
  4. Saw my Spinnerei quilt at the IQF Cincinnati show! I still need to post pictures of the CMQG Dresden Plate exhibit and the other quilts...
  5. Started the second Zora sock
  6. Bought an HQ Avante, stalked the UPS guy and began setting up the frame!
  7. finished the binding on the green and pink baby quilt
  8. Planted some seeds to try and supplement my garden
  9. Cleaned the basement with my neighbor in preparation for the HQ Avante
  10. Bought the yarn for the Infinity Cardigan!
  11. Made about 20 spool blocks for a swap
  12. Worked on Moon Pie that is on my Design Wall
 And books....

  1. Destiny of the Republic by Candace Millard
  2. Red Velvet Cupcake Murder by Joanne Fluke
  3. Mrs. Lincoln's Dressmaker by Jennifer Chiaverini
  4. The Limpopo Academy of Private Detection by Alexander McCall Smith
  5. Revenge of the Spellmans by Lisa Lutz
  6. Breath of Snow and Ashes by Diana Gabaldon
I guess that it was a pretty good month after all!

On the Needles - 5/3

I have made a little progress on my second sock.

101_1720

Pattern - Zora by Regina Satta on Ravelry
Yarn - Madelintosh Tosh Sock in Hickory - it's a greenish brown.

Lula is unimpressed.

Friday, April 26, 2013

On The Needles - 4/26

Not too much progress on the second sock, but I got the first cable done. I left my stitch markers in Florida so the first few rows of the pattern were a little difficult, but I made it through.

101_1701

The pattern is Zora and is free on Ravelry. The yarn is Madelinetosh in Hickory.

This will be nice to work on during lunch at the office. Hopefully I can show a little more progress next week.

I'm linking up to Judy's post here.

Infinity Cardigan

I finally got the yarn for the Infinity Cardigan!

I still need to do a swatch with the yarn to see what size needles I need and then make sure that I have the circular needles with the correct size needles and wire.

Here is the yarn that I picked. It is Grizzly Heather Palette by Knit Picks.

101_1696

And while I was taking the picture, Max decided that he needed one, too!

101_1695

I know that I am supposed to be getting back to the Midget blocks, but there is so much going on and I haven't really been sewing anything. I had to get the basement ready for the new quilting frame and now I have to work on some swap blocks that I had no business signing up for that are due this weekend. So much to do, so little time!! Hopefully, I will get back to the Midgets soon. I have not forgotten them!
